Well it seems like I am continually a day late {in this case 10 days late} on the goings-on of life. Yesterday I went to drop off an Etsy order and realized all the USPS prices had increased, most notably for me ...the flat rate boxes . For small business owners, this change is not insignificant because every penny matters. And in some instances, the price increased by $1 . And we all know that we cannot compete with the huge box stores on shipping... and people’s mentalities have shifted to expect shipping to either be free or minimal. . So I implore you... keep supporting your small businesses. In many cases, these are single parents, emerging entrepreneurs, creative souls who buck the system, or even aspiring kids with a dream. Don’t punish them because things out of their control happened! Often, when I’m quiet for an extended time on social media, it’s because I don’t feel like I have anything particularly exciting to share. **But** this time it’s because I’ve been too insanely busy with actually **doing** the exciting news! I’M BACK IN PRODUCTION IN MY VERY OWN, BRAND NEW KITCHEN!!! It’s been a week of 16 hour days, a to-do list a mile long, and little sleep. Am I feeling a little worn out? You bet! But I’m also feeling even more mentally and emotionally rejuvenated, excited, motivated, and positive because @preserve_store is having its SOFT OPENING THIS SATURDAY!!! WHOOOO!!!! (Sorry about all the yelling, I’m just really excited!) Come check out the vibrant little shop at 686 Portage (at Maryland-enter through @hildegardsbakery) this Saturday, December 8, from 10:00-6:00, pick up some treats for yourself, holiday and hostess gifts, and make me feel all warm and fuzzy that the project I’ve been working on for nearly 2 years(!) has finally come to fruition!!!

Heyheyhey! It’s Day One of @justacard ‘s INDIE WEEK. A whole workweek of highlighting all the amazing independent small biz and indie artists here on Instagram and across all social media! Basically to remind you to shop small and help us little guys out. Today I’m gonna spam you with 10 facts about me. 1. I’m from la frontera. Born and raised in Laredo, Texas. I often have conflicting feelings about my hometown but up until recently I’ve learned to love it. It’s a unique place to live honestly. Border culture is interesting and we also got the best food. 2. I lived in Austin for 3 years and got my BFA in Studio Art. You probz already know this but I’m primarily a printmaker. Honestly tho, #printmakershavemorefunthanyou. 3. I hate painting. I’m the worst at painting. Decent at gouache and watercolor but everything else does not do it for me. 4. Don’t be fooled, I’m hella reclusive and big hypochondriac. My agoraphobia isn’t too bad but I spend 75% of my life at home and I always believe I’m sick of something terrible when it’s honestly nothing major. Expect for... 5. I have terrible nerve pains in my hands. This whole year I’ve been battling my poor nerves. I knew something was up when I would grab stuff and my hand would become lazy and just drop whatever I was holding. Normally it’s my phone and I’ve cracked so many screens because of it. It’s progressively gotten worse and now I can’t do intense projects without having to take a lot of breaks and wearing a brace. Maybe it’s also carpel tunnel. 6. Since we’re on this topic, I believe a lot of these medical issues stem from my anxiety. Tho I’m pretty sure I’ve made it clear to everyone that I’m a very anxious person and a walking bundle of nerves. Maybe that’s why my hair so curly, cause I’m always tense. 7. Twin Peaks is basically my holy manuscript. It’s a way of life. The cult of Twin Peaks. I really, really, really love Twin Peaks. 8. I have two doggos. My mini moonhowler chihuahua named Audio and my big ol’ cinnamon roll, the Artist Formerly Known as PRINCEss. 9. Idk witchy stuff. 10. Without Instagram, idk how I would’ve met so many amazing and inspiring artists who I call friends.
