What are your goals this week?
I’m thankful that my son is officially done with his summer preschool program because we finally get some time in the mornings to unwind and catch up on z’s!
My goal this week is do a stretching and foam rolling routine every morning with my extra time!
I’m getting up there with mileage for my 12 mile race so prioritizing recovery is so important!
In the past few years, after my road race I tend to peter out mentally and physically with running. I give myself a break but find it harder and harder to get back at it. And when this happens, I miss running terribly. This quote it encouraging me to start NOW doing what I can to not let this happen this year. I’m prepared mentally to keep moving forward ✨

Let’s take a second and talk about weight training. First, anyone can weight train and I mean ANYONE. The weight room can be a very intimidating place...if you let it be. I promise you NO ONE is paying a lick of attention to what you’re doing. I promise you that starting with the lowest weight possible is OKAY because after a week, you’ll be lifting heavier. Even it’s a pound heavier. Not everyday is going to be a good day in the gym. Some days, a pair of 15 pound dumbbells feel like they weigh 30 pounds, but CONSISTENCY is key. Not quitting is key. Picking yourself back up off the mat the next day and picking up the same set of weights will feel lighter. ASK FOR HELP. When I first started lifting I had no clue how to use some of the machines. I first asked other females lifting for help (muscle men intimidated the hell out of me). Now I ask the nearest body. PROPER FORM IS SO IMPORTANT. You may say, but Bogo...how do I know how to do something correctly? Simple. You YouTube it. That’s what I did. I would look at the workout the night before and watch videos of any moves I didn’t know. PRIORITIZING REST AND RECOVERY is so important. Read that again. If you’re new to weight training, you will be sore. Probably very sore. Take. A. Rest. Day. And no, I’m not talking about going on a 3 mile jog. I’m talking about making a human sized dent in your couch while clearing your DVR. FOAM ROLL. STRETCH. Most importantly, have fun because weight lifting is so f*cking fun and empowering. The ultimate level of badassery.
