Soooo it's been awhile since my last post but back to business! I'm pleasantly surprised with the Tom Ford Acqua Metal Shadows - I first bought Venus Rising and Violet Argente but ended up returning to @tangssg two days later for Reflects Gilt. Now, as a major hater of Sun Worship, I'd felt some trepidation about this last shade. While I'd advise swatching in person if you're leery of warm yellowy golds, I think the off-putting aspect of Sun Worship - for me anyway - has always had more to do with its overly emollient texture. (Imagine an unholy cross between rancid Crisco and I Can't Believe It's Not Butter. Try not to vom.) . Staying power of these shadows is A+. I first tried Venus Rising as a wash and the effect was undeniably pretty. But what I really like about the #aquametalshadow formula is its compatibility with other eyeshadows, cream and powder. It does take a bit more work to achieve a natural looking transition but it's def possible, even for the relatively inept makeup-slappers-onners amongst us, such as yours truly. . Picking a favourite is tough but my votes go to Venus Rising and Violet Argente. Both are stronger than Reflects Gilt which has a noticeably thinner texture (although some may like the sheerer effect). If I had to pick one, I'd say Venus Rising - it's obligatory if you love Paradiso (Cream & Powder Duo) as much as I do. For fans of @tomfordbeauty, I say buy all three - they're that good! . Also picked up the new Sheer Cheek Duo (Lissome?) which I will report back on once I've gotten around to actually trying it (my counter didn't have a tester open although stock appeared to be plentiful .) . Thanks to a veeeeery early release date in Singapore*, I've been able to get lots of use out of the six new Lip Lacquers from Tom Ford's #wintersoleil 2018 collection. After falling in love with the first two shades I bought, I figured going all in (aka completing the family) was obvs the right way to go...But was it really? For the lowdown, keep on reading. Or just swipe ➡️ for lot of #swatches - #lipswatches, arm swatches, and a #swatchvideo. NOTE: 5th pic is In Ecstasy, 6th is Cara Mia ‍♀️ . Naked Elixir 01: SKIP. The two lightest shades were both duds imo. Naked Elixir, however, is so actively unflattering, I'm sort of impressed by its sheer awfulness. Pun intended because this one is impossible to build up (unsurprising I suppose given the lack of any pigment.) It also has that gross, thin, milky consistency that is guaranteed to sink into lip lines you didn't even know you had. ❌ . Escapist 02: Erm, not Delectable. Brain fail. Def not as abysmal as Naked Elixir but let's aim for a higher bar than that. PASS. . Duds thoroughly bashed, I'm happy to announce that the remaining four shades are winners. They deliver near opaque coverage in a single swipe and share a balmy, genuinely moisturising texture devoid of any trace of tackiness. Best of all, the weartime is fantastic. These glosses last for ages (caveat: avoid any apple crunching) and, over time, wear down to a deeply pigmented stain that's so pretty on its own, it's *almost* like getting two products for the price of one. . In Ecstasy 04: a perfect not too pink/not too peachy coral. Great at brightening your face up and adding a touch of warmth. . Cara Mia 03: the first shade I bought and my favourite to date! This is a deep, dusky rose which comes as close as it gets to the 'universally flattering' moniker. . Exhibitionist 05: a vibrant pinky red. Pigment is poppin' with this one . La Vie En Rouge 06: a mistletoe-berry shade of red that's seasonally appropriate aka festive AF. Also a fab lip stain. . Verdict: Solid . Just skip the duds and exercise caution if eating apples in public (swipe to the end to see what I mean). Mandatory if you're a fan of #tomfordbeauty.
