Today marks the First Day of School for my 9th year teaching! A year I didn’t know I would be teaching but the Lord did! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve been praying for the 21 students whose faces will be on this door soon and bodies will be in our classroom in just a few minutes! Just a normal evening where I’m rocking motherhood and seem to have everything under control. RIGHT? WRONG!! In this picture (taken by Avery ) I was feeding the girls by myself and trying to control an out of control 4-year-old. I look like I’ve got everything under control but I didn’t. Emery was having a reflux episode, Addison wouldn’t eat and Avery was jumping on the furniture and trying to get the dog to chase her (which normally would be fine but our dog had surgery and can’t be active or run for 2 weeks She has stitches so we have to be super careful). In the vlog I posted today (it’s a day in the life) I shared a little bit of the out of control emotions I experienced recently. I realize that my feelings aren’t as extreme as what other women experience postpartum but I wanted to make sure I share the “bad days” because I show you guys a lot of my “good days.” Life, and parenthood, isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. . There are moments where I seem to have it all together but you better believe, I have my breakdown moments too - times where I just want to lock myself in a room by myself with a glass of wine or some cookies . Just being honest ‍♀️ Being a mom is SO rewarding but it’s also SO hard! If you’re having a hard day, it’s ok! We have tomorrow! Let’s try to make it a good one! I looooved breast feeding! But with the twins, I always got asked, ‘Are you sure you have enough milk?’ I used to get so irritated ... ‘Fuck yeah I have enough milk!’ But honestly, maybe I didn’t...So I supplemented/complemented with formula, just so I could get peace of mind. So that I could rest. So that others could feed and bond with the babies. So that I was 100% sure that my kids were actually getting full. On breastfeeding, all our journeys are different. What matters is that we look back, then look at our growing kids and say, ‘Thank You. We are so excited to announce our family is growing with 2 very precious babies on the way! Blake is over the moon to have babies of his own to hold and love on! This is a very joyous time for us now, but it wasn’t easy to get here. After going through infertility this past year we know just how hard of a journey it is for others as well. We’re praying for other families still going through infertility and for your hearts to be healing. As brand new teachers we buddied up and made a great pair! ‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Through weddings, babies, birthday parties and so much family fun together over the years it’s great to be back together and it’s been such a fun ride the past two weeks! Our little babes are 1 month old today! They’re much more stable than they used to be, so Adam & I are now able to sit right next to each other when we hold them. This is the closest that Milo and Violet have been to each other since I was pregnant!
