We recently spent some time exploring Canary Wharf. @mhewbert works there so we never tend to spend any time there, but there are some great places to eat and drink and some super awesome things to do. One of my favourite places we found was @brewdogofficial, yes I know it’s a chain, but each store picks the beers they stock which I’m 100% here for! I also had this INSANE vegan burger made from Seitan that I’d eat time and time again. Where’s someone local you want to explore?

What I eat in a day on a whole food plant based diet...

When some people find out that I don’t eat meat or dairy, they look bewildered and ask me well “what do you eat”. I like this graphic because it shows the foods that I build my meals around. I don’t follow these serving sizes, that should be individual specific. I do try to eat greens every day. Oil is also individual specific, some actually need to avoid all oils (eg heart disease aiming to improve or reverse it). .
So for breakfast today I had grape nuts with almond milk, raisins, a banana, and a nectarine. For lunch I’m having corn on the cob, sweet potatoes, beans, and nuts. For dinner I’ll probably have a massive salad with avocado, tempeh bacon, and black beans. So today, the only added sugar that I consumed was 1/2 cup of some fruit juice from Trader Joe’s. But really my goal is no added sugars. .

If you’re stuck and don’t know what to eat for a vegan breakfast, here are some vegan breakfast items that I like. Of course, variety is key and it’s best to choose as much unprocessed foods as possible.
- fruit- smoothies and/or 2-3 fruits, build breakfast around fruit
- oatmeal (old fashioned, steel cut, or rolled, not the instant packs with sugar).
- vegan pancakes (check my instastories under Recipes for my fluffy delicious recipe).
- whole wheat English muffins (from Whole Foods)
-frozen whole wheat waffles (Natures Path).
- cereals (I go for ones with at least 4g fiber per serving, preferably no added sugar, or if it has added sugar, it should be on the bottom of the ingredient list, Natures Path or Kashi are my favorite brands)
- Ezekiel bread.
- scrambled tofu
- Vegan bacon/sausage (Lightlife smart bacon, Lightlife fakin bacon, Fieldroast vegan sausage). Note, these fake meats are processed but some need a transition from meat, or want to eat these once in a while. .

Watch the dairy sales plummet even more after the Coca-Cola Fair Oaks Farms undercover footage was released. If you didn’t see the footage, I recommend you do. But if you did see it and you’re still consuming dairy, please know that by consuming dairy that you’re funding that violence, oppression, enslavement, injustice, sexual assault, and slaughter. Even if it’s just milk fat in a candy bar (luckily there’s plenty of vegan candy bars). It’s supply and demand. Demand the vegan dairy alternatives so that more of those options are supplied while less of the dairy options are supplied. Which will result in less baby cows being abused, beaten, stolen, and slaughtered.

Happy new week! Who needs some chocolate to get things off to a good start? This chocolate and cherry parfait will set you up! How to It uses blended oats which is my go to when it gets a bit warm for porridge. I made it through my first Chicago Marathon training week but keeping fingers crossed that the weather is better to me this week. So far so good! Do you have a busy week ahead? Today I've just got one meeting and then I'm off for the rest of the day so I'm going to see some art ❤️
To make:
- Cover a 1/3 cup oats with boiling water and leave for 15 mimutes to soak in.
- Add to a blender with 100ml plant milk, 1/2 frozen banana,a heaped tsp of cacao, a little cinnamon and maca and a tiny pinch of sea salt. Add your sweetener here too if you like.
- Pulse until thick and blended. This doesn't take long!
- Top with granola, coconut, cherries and drizzle of nut butter! I used @pipandnut cherry bakewell almond butter which is my new fav!
- Enjoy!
