One of the more attractive 2016 I've had recently. Domaine Guyon has really been flying under the radar but that should change soon. Jean Pierre took over from his father in 1991 and in 2010 decided to convert the whole domaine to organic farming. Fermented with indigenous yeast, he also prefers to use 100% whole cluster with no SO2 added during vinifcation, raised in oak, the wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered.
The Vosne Romanée "Les Charmes de Mazières" is a blend of 70+ years old vines from the estate best plots.
Tasted in Zalto Burgundy, the 2016 opened up initially with floral and spices aroma that evolved into sensual earthy and dark red fruits perfume. Very refined with intense spices, fresh acidity and pure minerality. A superb Village that once again demonstrate that one does not need to fork out a fortune just to try Burgundy's best.

A blend of 60% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 5% still red Coteaux with 2-3g/l of dosage. Aged on lees for 48 months and disgogred in 2015.
Tasted in JRxRB, this was very aromatic with lush red fruits and chalk notes. A complex wine with sublime minerality that keeps the wine tense. Not exactly bone dry but the lively acidity does cover up the dosage well.

I am always skeptical when people say Champagne taste better in Magnum format as I have yet to come across one where the difference is noticeable...well until this one. I drank the 2014 standard one a few months back and it took a long time to open up slightly, contrary to the magnum that was singing from the get go. Most likely due to the vintage or maybe it was on a particular biodynamic day, whatever it was this was truly outstanding.
Le Mont des Chrétiens (prevously Dame de Coeur) is a single vinyard blanc de blanc from the Premier Cru village of Écueil. Aged in old oak with 3g/l dosage.
Tasted in JRXRB and Zalto Universal, the 2013 evoked fresh citrus and wet stones initially before unveiling a sensual and haunting floral aroma. It is energetic and vivid with precise acidity and sleek minerality. One of the wine where I don't mind the dosage at all, really enjoyed this. Bravo @champagnesavart ⚡️⚡️

Now we are talking "world class" champagne. Vincent Charlot and his "L'Extravagant oeil de Pedrix" roséchampagne 2012 (my fourth bottle of the nine I bought). Aking more to a really good redwine this "creature" needs a Zalto pinotnoir glass and several hours in a decanter (probably 24 hours) to develope it's inner, worldclass quality. Intense, almost mindblowing, fresh, vibrant, superelegant, with razorsharp acidity (to die for) and a supercomplex taste of red berries, almonds, salt, red currant, herbs, light woodelements, so vibrant and clean. Eco, biodynamic, homeopathic, no fining, filtration, no nothing. Thanks my friend (Vincent) for your effort. Beyond any roséchampagne I've ever tasted. I'm in love! #@champcharlottanneux #vincentcharlot #l'extravagantoeildepedrix #oeildepedrix #champagne #rosechampagne #roséchampagne #champagnerosé #2012 #worldclasswines #ecological #biodynamic #homeopathic #vinnature #demeter #vinbiologique
No.6 and last bottle of #ChampagneWeek , this truly is a case of saving the best for last. Lahaye's Violaine is his only sans soufre cuvée and one of my favourite wine in Champagne.
Tasted in Zalto Universal, this is pure and pristine with refreshing floral aromas, reminiscent of a spring breeze passing over a flower field. The palate is lean and clean with chalky minerality. What a wine...

Bottle No.2 of #ChampganeWeek with Dufour # 4 Bulles.
Had this in my cellar for 2 years and completely forgotten about it... and my how this wine has changed in such short period. There is no doubt that most RM that received lower SO2 evolves at a faster rate than when compared to the big house but it is still surprising to see that this is showing autolysis notes already. A blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc from Vallée de l'Ource in Aube. Base vintage is 2013 with reserved wines from '11 and '10, 4g/l of dosage and no added SO2.
Tasted in Lehmann A.Lallement, this is showing the ripe orchard fruits and hint of oxidative honey aromas typical of aged Champagne. This is clearly showing differently from when it was young, it did gain in intensity and complexity but loses quite a lot of the energy and friskiness as well as the dosage becoming more pronounced. Personally I prefer this when it was young, so better drink up.
