#mydailyrenovation Day 11: Tools. So the thing is I’ve never actually taken pictures of any of our tools...does this ladder thing count? Thought it looks kinda artsy ‍♀️ This was taken in the upstairs hallway, which is going to be one of the last parts of the house we do up unfortunately. It’s going to be so weird having to walk through this to access the finished bedrooms Anyone else had to do this?

So this was what the dinning room looked like when we moved in. We’re planning open living at the rear so this room won’t be needed for this. Soooooo... I wanted a spare bedroom but my son and husband are won and making a lads room, his vision is a cinema style room with games for our son. But we will still have room for guests to stay when they come especially with family living 200 miles away. . ➡️ to see the renovation progress I’ve made I’ve stripped the walls off and in a few weeks when the front is getting re-rendered they are going to skim the walls. Until then we need to channel wires decide on lighting and the hubby is in his element looking into technology. Unsure on colour scheme yet but thinking it’ll have to be dark colours. Sooo we haven’t posted in a while... to be honest it just seems like we’re getting further and further away from an end date! There are no photos I can post that are remotely of progress.... Some of the accounts who were at the same stage when I joined the gram are nearing completion... and we’re still living in the world of broken boilers, no floorboards and half a kitchen . Liz did do a great job of stripping the final unreachable section of wallpaper- she taped the stripper and scraper to a broom handle, saving us from any more death defying stunts on the stairs. We are also in a world of pain with contractors... waiting for quotes, waiting for meetings about quotes, waiting for emails about meetings for quotes... desperate to book one and set a start date for the big renovation but also terrified we’re signing up to the wrong one. We NEED to choose one in the next couple of weeks. What a difference removing that awful textured wall paper makes, don’t you think? It’s so much lighter now. We roped in our good friend Ella into helping us tackle the private wing of @chateaudebourneau and had a very productive wallpaper stripping session. It’s actually quite therapeutic stripping off layers of brown and green questionable institute design and getting back to the bare bones of the château. We concentrate most of our DIY efforts on the public side of the château and preparing it for guests but I suddenly had this flash forward of us still living in the 1970s for the next 30years whilst we completely neglect the west wing. New resolution- occasional weekends are for our own apartment. Next question, what colour should we paint it? I think we need to keep it light...any thoughts?
