Tomorrow marks 22 MONTHS since I started my journey! Smiling with my teeth is getting a little bit easier, my makeup skills are improving and I’m able to make it through a theme park without wanting to collapse. I’d say these past 22 months have been a success! i down ⬇️ 118 lbs with Keto, During times where you’re struggling I believe it’s important to remind yourself that you’ve come a long way and even if you’re up on the scale, you’re not where you were when you started. I’m still so much closer to my goals than I was when I started. It’s a good reminder to me of what I’m working for. I’m on this journey to change my life and become the person I’m meant to be... it’s time to push forward and hit my goals. No more excuses - it’s time to make progress and see new numbers. I’ve got this. .
My new discovery: Cottage cheese.

There was a time during my weight loss journey that I searched high and low for a replacement for chicken breast. Y'see it's not that chicken breast is superior protein or anything, but it's just kinda the best all in one package.

Chicken breast has quite low calories for high protein, along with being readily available in most places in the world, cheap in price compared to all the other similar options out there, and also a pure protein source (minimal carbs/fats)

For whatever reason, cottage cheese isn't common where I live. I've looked for it high & low while it's possible to find, I kinda have to jump through too many hoops to get it in my hands.

Traveling this week, I've been able to find cottage cheese as regular supermarkets next to regular cheese. An absolute dream come true scenario!

Oh! so why the hype about cottage cheese? In my mind it's an amazing source of protein that has a completely different taste & texture, AND is super super low in calories.

100g of cottage cheese is roughly:

10g protein
2.2g fat

It's filling, it's an amazing "wet" texture compared to chicken breast where no matter how juicy a chicken breast is it's still kinda on the dry side. It goes well with pretty much everything out there too.

Chips, meat, bread, rice, I guess in any scenario that I can get away with eating a lot of cheese I’d take it!

Over here I've been buying the 200g packs which comes to 170kcal for 20g protein, basically a protein bar but in a little bit less processed form and A LOT A LOT more filling.

I think I get more strange looks standing in the corner eating cheese out of the "jar" rather than weighing a piece of toast at the coffee shop. Cottage cheese would definitely be on my top list of favorite proteins if it was more easily available for me.

What are your favorite sources of protein? Chicken breast, shrimp and fish are on top of that list for me.

️♂️I hit my weight goal (-50kg/-110lbs) doing zero exercise.

️♂️Not so much I hated exercise as much as I had found a weight loss method that worked and I was terrified to do something different to change the momentum I had going.

️♂️My initial goal of this weight loss journey was overall health. Not aesthetics, not a six pack, I just wanted to at least put in effort where I could improve my health.

️♂️Step one was to get out of morbid obesity.

️♂️The day I hit my weight goal was the day I started to exercise. I wasted no time, cos to me weight was just one part of the equation. Exercise is also a vital part of a healthy lifestyle.

️♂️I started with bodyweight exercises, and slowly made my way to lifting barbells. I got stronger, fitter, but I feel the benefits I enjoyed the most are the ones less talked about.

️♂️Benefits such as:

️♂️1) Being able to carry heavy groceries easily
️♂️2) Moving luggage around while traveling easily
️♂️3) Keeping up with the forever energized kiddos running around
️♂️4) Kiddos feels lighter & lighter when carried even though they’re gaining weight over time
️♂️5) Climbing stairs without running out of breath
️♂️6) Willing to walk longer distances instead of using a car during rush hour
️♂️7) Less lazy to be on my feet once settling down
️♂️8) Feel better, more confidence
️♂️9) Waking up a lot fresher every morning

️♂️Exercise isn't just about building muscle, it's about improving the quality of life too. My workouts had been quite minimum this past year as I was focused on learning how to vlog, and keeping up with a vlog a day. It finally got to a point where it took less time to film and edit videos, and for the past month I've gotten back to lifting again.

️♂️It feels like I'm re-experiencing the benefits above for the first time again. Super lovin it.

What a year this has been. I can honestly say that this has been my best and happiest year in 8 years. From dealing with my dad’s cancer and losing him, to a failed engagement, to college struggles due to my grief, gaining over 100 pounds, moving and moving and moving again, major mental and physical health struggles, an uncertain future and a job that made me miserable to getting healthy and living my best life. I wish I had known the difference that would be made in all parts of my life just by putting my health first. I started with that and the rest just fell into place. I’ll always be grateful for Keto for being the tool that allowed me to get to where I am now. It’s scary to think where I would be had I not found it. I’m so so grateful for all of you and I sincerely wish you the best year ever in 2019. Here’s to the New Year! Tag me in your 2018 transformation pictures! I want to celebrate YOU!

I decided on 4-10-17 that I no longer wanted to make the same choices I had in the past. At 44 years of age, weighing 404.4 lbs, struggling to choose whether to get busy living or busy dying, I chose life.

Not PERFECT choices, but I did not give up!
