Photography has taught me so much about the world we live in. It is teaching my eyes to appreciate the smallest things, how even weeds are wonderfully created. I have learnt the concept of storytelling and the art of visual communication; magical stories are told and shared accross generations and continents. Yesterday we visited the #worldpressphoto in Amsterdam and when I left I had a difficult time letting go and not being bitter; I was disappointed in humanity. I’m sensitive and wear my heart on my sleeve, and it took a lot not to cry in. These aren’t just shots; they are stories. They carry emotion. They are real life experiences. I am thankful for learning about stories and experience via journalism and photography. For the stories that aren’t brought to our news channel, but our brought to us nevertheless. I am grateful for independent free press and journalists risking their lives to tell the stories that need to be shared, being a voice for the voiceless. Also, if you haven’t gone this year, I would definitely recommend to still go. 2019 includes the awful zero tolerance policy and violence in the Americas. Also, mesmerizing photography in the environmental category. If you’re in the Netherlands, de nieuwe kerk in Amsterdam is probably my favorite location so far that I visited.
