What if I told you that one of the hidden keys to pain relief could be found in your fascia? Fascia is our body’s connective tissue, an interwoven fibrous web that helps support and protect our muscles and vital organs. Fascia surrounds individual muscles, blood vessels and nerves. It binds these structures together kind of like cellophane. Fascia is the tissue where the musculoskeletal system, circulatory system and nervous system all unite. Our bodies’ fascial network greatly influences all other body systems and plays a big role in our aging process as well as the overall health of our entire body. New research reveals that our emotions and cellular memory are stored in the fascia as well as other tissues. An incredible woman named Dr. Candace Pert actually quantified the molecules of emotion. Candace Pert was a neuropharmacologist and researcher during her lifetime, and she said, “Your body is your subconscious mind. Our physical body can be changed by the emotions we experience.” To unwind our emotional traumas, we may need to unwind our fascia first. When we liberate our bodies, we can liberate our minds. It’s no wonder, then, that when we feel emotions like fear, anxiety and anger, it directly translates into our body, and we can feel pain. I personally believe that many people #suffering from #chronic pain could find relief by working through the emotions trapped in their tissues. Our cells have memory in order to protect us from future harm. The only problem is that we don’t want all of our traumas stored inside of us and contributing to adhesions in our fascia. The health of your fascia is important because if your fascia isn’t healthy, then the rest of your body systems could potentially be at risk. When we experience adhesions in our fascia, it has the potential to adversely affect blood flow, cause pain, tension, limited range of motion and more. Fascial adhesions can also cause misalignments in the body that can become very painful if not addressed. I usually don’t post on Monday because I’m at a class, and this is me in the class, working on my triceps brachii muscle. I’ve been practicing Yamuna Body Rolling for 3 years and I credit it for having a virtually pain free body. Every chronic complaint I had has resolved, the arches in my feet were restored, tennis elbow went away and a lower back issue is now non-existent. Forty plus years of kitchen work was hard on my body and I’m so happy that I found something to restore it to good working order. We are now jumping into the 4th week tomorrow!!! At this point, everything starts hurting, stiffen and tighten, so it is very important to take great care of your body by eating, sleeping and rolling your body in order to improve your recovery time. In week 3, I checked how exhausted my students were and how restricted their body was by doing simple movements. After doing a couple exercises including activation of certain muscles or releasing/rolling muscles helped huge to have better ROM and mobility even stability & control.
