It’s Bank Holiday Monday here in England and what better way to spend a bank holiday than relaxing in a beautiful garden. As it’s not quite sunbed weather today I thought this image was rather appropriate. Imagine sitting here for afternoon tea beneath the glorious scented rose! .
This photo is part of the set taken at The Walled Garden at Cowdray, full story in the June issue of The English Garden magazine (uk edition). @thewalledgardenatcowdray @theenglishgardenmagazine .

Lombard Street San Francisco: The city block began as a straight, cobblestone street with a 27% grade. In the 1920s the people living on this street wanted cars, but the street was too steep for vehicles.
Carl Henry, insurance and drug business executive proposed the idea of a curved street. He created a lily pond and rose gardens. When he died his widow sold the property to pay off debts. The property values were not as high as on neighboring streets because cars couldn’t have access. Clyde Healy the city engineer came up with the street design. Soon people could drive up and down, and the property values rose. From the beginning, the neighbors bickered about the plantings, and many would not pay for maintenance. One resident on the block, Peter Bercut after a trip to his native France, he had the idea to plant hydrangeas. The brilliantly-colored block became known by people living in the neighborhood, but was not a tourist destination until 1961 when it was printed on a postcard. #sanfrancisco #lombardstreet #gardens #gardendesign #planting #gardenvisitor #hydrangea #roadtrip #visitsanfrancisco

Meanwhile back at the show ground at #rhscardiff i just wanted to mention these.....
Not just a great use for logs you might have, but s brilliant way to support wildlife that needs books and crannies to live in.
Good design for both aesthetics, wildlife and the planet!!
