I’m thinking of setting it east west in that antique inspired halo that came out SO wonderfully last week ( SWIPE for a reminder) with my famous dolly faux foil to make this center GLOW. GIA Certed .75 carat I color and completely eye clean SI2, the completed ring will be 2995 and look like a millllllion bucks! Let’s start with the center stone- a genuine antique oval rose cut (my fav) weighing over 1.4 carats and 9.5MM long the surround is made up of all antique rose/mine cut hybrids, total carat weight is over 2 carats. Setting is a heavy duty 14k rose and white gold with my custom Dolly “faux foil” backing. Many of you new followers are asking- what is faux foil?!? It’s a technique of creating a high polish backer plate that’s rhodiumed to mimic the foil used in Georgian jewelry, but with open sides and no delicate materials so you can easily clean this guy. I love rose cuts that are backed like this, it really gives them life like no other. And you guys KNOW that antique rose cuts just have a certain je ne sais quoi; they shimmer and sparkle like no modern Rosie . And look at how WHITE and CLEAN this guy is!! Size 6 and sizeable, 17mm long with the halo means you get some amazing finger coverage !! Have you ever thought of the story behind each Stone, Mineral or Gem used to create an object like this one?  Even though it is a minimalistic design, it carries an interesting story which is far from being modest. The quartz comes from Pampa Blanca Mine in Huancavelica, a source that is probably one of the most prolific in the World for producing Japanese Law Twins. It also produces some incredible quartz clusters and single crystals points which are covered by a very thick brown/pink skin. August 2018, Saturday afternoon, almost ready to call it a day in our studio and we get a phone call from a local miner inviting us to come to the “Maclas” Quartz mine early next day. What a better way to spend a Sunday than to go for a short gem hunting trip! First 2.5 hours driving parallel to the coast in the “Panamericana” Highway and 2.5 hours into the Andes Mountains until we reached a tiny hamlet, formed by approximately 8 small one floor adobe houses. We were introduced to Alberto, the mine owner, who dedicates most of his time to farming and cattle raising (not mining) No time to waste let’s see some rocks! You thought it will be so easy? Not a chance to see anything on spot, you have to build a relation, gain their trust in order to do business. One hour later after having a few drinks we finally proved we were worthy of their trust. They had crystals hidden even under the bed! (no joke). It was a very tough negotiation, bargaining for hours until we got into an agreement for a couple large cluster and few hundred kilos of loose crystals. Business was sealed with a strong handshake and our truck was immediately loaded. Back in our studio we personally hand selected the crystals by size and shape and it was in this sorting process that I visualize the design, a natural quartz crystal point chess set, one side will remain 100% natural, keeping its thick brown/pink skin and to contrast the opposite side will be clean polished respecting the quartz natural shape. The checker board cut in granite with a few accents in bronze. It is very special object since it’s the first design and mineral purchase made for our new project @mineralmagallery Enjoy!

*** edit sold!!!! *** Time for specs on this absolutely magical stone! To begin with- GIA certed .79 E color VS2, center stone measures just a hair shy of 8 x 5. So yes, top quality all the way. But what makes it magical? This guy has very strong blue flouresence which I swear to the bling gods, makes it look PINK. Not “oh that’s a weird rosey hue”- PINK. STRAIGHT UP PINK!!! Ok maybe purplish pink- but not white!!!! You have got to SWIPE to see this guy next to other stones . Stacked against a G color rose cut (not for sale, a clients ring but I can make one for you lol) that slightly warmer and bigger east west marquise, and an F color emerald cut. Tell me this doesn’t look pink to you! Even indoors with absolutely NO light it has a rosey hue (last picture shows this, sorry it’s grainy but that’s what you get in low light ha). Didn’t I tell you? Magic baby! 2950 takes this one of a kind ring home, in a custom made 14k ultra pink rose gold setting size 6 and sizeable up and down several sizes as the shank is plain.
