| SKILL TRANSFER |
.
“Violent hip extension”
.
“The gluteus maximus and the hamstring muscle group are the primary extensors of the hip joint. These two are responsible for the violent opening of the hip joint that is required in nearly every explosive movement performed in athletics and conditioning.” - THE @crossfittraing JOURNAL - “The Athletic Hip” By Dan Hollingsworth @djhollingsworth November 2010
.
When introducing a new movement to an athlete, referencing commonalities from other familiar movements may help them transfer the skills necessary to be successful.
.
For programs that focus on work capacity across broad time and modal domains, no other skill transfers to more movements than “violent hip extension.”

| COACHING PERSPECTIVE |
.
“Respect the timeline” - Inspired by Episode 7 of Jason Khalipa’s @jasonkhalipa
Business of Fitness podcast
.
Accuracy is one of the 10 general physical skills in CrossFit.
.
Coaches, this also applies to your class time management.
.
Running over and finishing early are both a sign of poor planning.
.
“At CrossFit NapTown we email out a detailed lesson plan for the next day's class to each of our coaches. This is broken down by time allocations: 0:00-3:00 intros, 3:00-8:00 general warm-up, 8:00 to 15:00 accessory work, etc. Taking the effort to create and share these lesson plans is imperative.
.
Think consistency of product. Members are paying for 60 minutes of education and entertainment every single time they step in the door. It is our job to deliver on that service so following a 60 minute timeline is crucial to the success of our business.” - Jared Byczko @crossfit_naptown CF-L3 Trainer
