It isn’t long now before we find out about Elsie’s school place! We are starting to think about the skills Elsie will need to have a successful start to school. One of the things she will need to be able to do is to recognise and write her name. With this in mind I have set up an activity around her name. This will help Elsie to build her name using letters and loose parts and then maybe attempt to write it by tracing over the letters or writing letters on post it notes. What key skill do you think children should learn before they go to school?

Remember how I recently shared a tutorial for a 3D split regular three strand braid? Which was such a cool and simple #hairhack Now I discovered another simple braid with a cool twist on it! How did I not know about that?! ....wOw.... Do you know how to do a FiShTaiL? What you see is my first attempt at a 3D Fishtail Box Braid We were in a rush to school, so it is really chunky. For next time I would be grabbing smaller strands. The trick? You do two stitches over and then two stitches under alternating. Very simple if you already do a fishtail.
