#ginadaymay Day 29 - Aged (Ad - only due to mentioning brands) I blame Alfred's dad, yes you know Alfred, the gin loving pug aka @ginmops. He told me an aged gin negroni would be something special. So of cause I had to try this. And right he was! This is a tasty serve indeed I have already showed you this gin at day 14 (label), so please accept my apologies for repeating myself, but this is the only aged gin on my shelf. I smack two events in one here as @sheepishjen tagged me for the #showmeyournegroni event. How fortunate is that? The later event is driven by @yetanotherbeardedbartender and encourages you to show a picture where you prefably pour a negroni and ask four friends to do the same. Well the pouring part didn't go well, however I would like to invite: @ginmops @theginquest @ginbisse & @knkampmark to take part in the negroni game My negroni recipe is: St. Laurent aged gin/gin vieux infused with cocoa nips Vermut Arlini, a sweet, rich almost brown vermuth from Canary Islands Campari A dash of Aztec Chocolate bitters A dash of Clément Créole Shrub Stirred over ice Garnished with orange peel. For the inspiration to the garnish I owe a big thanks to Kaho aka King of garnish and @kahosbar you advised to use cake shapes to crop garnish, that works to perfection! So a little late to the party but I have a really good excuse of being up in London meeting with a fellow blogger and a few distilleries! More on that to follow. Without trying I have a few pink gins but only because I have a penchant for pink grapefruit and quite like raspberry too. So for #ginadaymay Pink, cue in @manchester_gin Raspberry infused gin which is super delicious! It’s punchy with raspberry flavour but does not have that sickly sweet taste. I have paired it with mint and raspberry but chose a light tonic versus the recommended elderflower tonic. It is one of my favourite flavoured gins! Thank you to one of my gin friends @cocktailgineration who introduced me to it but also gave me this bottle as my Xmas pressie. D A Y 6 : M I N I A T U R E . It’s day 6 of @gin_a_ding_ding #ginadaymay and being the first Monday it could only be one thing... #miniaturemonday . And after another long day of packing up the house I couldn’t be more delighted with my well deserved reward for a day of hard graft! . When I picked up this lovely little bottle of @thebotanistgin from @tanners.wines you were all kind enough to offer suggestions for the perfect serve... and there was one I was very excited to try! . Focusing on the citrus elements from the 31 botanicals in the Botanist gin, 22 of which are found from Lomond itself, I paired it with @1724tonicwater for a mandarin and uniquely refreshing taste in each sip! . Adding my usual favourite of an orange slice was just a bonus! . This has to be one of my favourite combinations to date... strong words I know and ones I seem to throw around week in week out these days but I think I am just finally finding so many wonderful gins more regularly these days... and miniature Monday is a perfect way to do just that! . . #ginadaymay Day 21 - Fauna (Ad - due to mentioning brand) Today I give you Anholt island, the most remote island in Denmark, situated in Kattegat between Denmark and Sweden. This tiny island only 22 km long is a natural Paradise, most of the island is a natural park, known as the dessert, covered with heather. Junipers grown literally everywhere together with blackberries. And the water is fresh and clean. Only some 145 regular habitants live here during the year, however the island is filled with life during summer as it has a large habour and is a popular destination also due to the Norway lobsters. I had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful place last year and got to meet Jakob, one of the men behind the Anholt Gin. The gin is distilled at @nordiskbraenderi by Anders Bilgram with junipers picked by volounteers in the juniper picking week 42 every year, and the local water from the dessert is also used in production. The gin contains only junipers, angelica, lemon peel and coriander, as the guys behind this awesome gin state it: 'less fuss - more gin'.
