Next up in our series of reviews is Malfy Gin con Limone. Malfy is made in the Torino distillery which is based in north Italy close to Monviso mountain where the makers take the high altitude spring water for their gin. For this particular edition, they use lemons from famous Sicily and Amalfi Coast. We had the pleasure of visiting the Amalfi Coast last month! Whilst there, we tasted some of those lovely lemons which bring the signature flavour to this gin . . The bottle is bright, bold and fresh with a very coastal feel. To the smell and taste, lemons are the primary element, but in a sweet way, followed by all the ginny juniper goodness you’d expect. The flavour reminds us of the famous Italian Limoncello; a sweet lemon drink that is almost sherberty. This Malfy gin is 41% by volume, but the fruity flavour makes sure this gin doesn’t taste dry ⚓️ . . We paired this @malfygin with a premium Indian tonic, which is definitely recommended so you don’t cover up any of the lemon flavours. We also paired it with Mediterranean tonic water which was also a stunning companion for the Con Limone gin! Happy International Gin & Tonic Day! We are celebrating with a new expression from the ever expanding range of Whitley Neill gins. The last couple of years has seen an array of interesting flavours from the ever popular rhubarb & ginger to blood orange. This evening however we focus on the vibrant Aloe & Cucumber which was inspired by the South African landscape. The botanical profile is a rich and complex blend of Juniper, Coriander seed, Cassia bark, Orris root, Angelica Root, Liquorice, Sweet Orange, Lemon, Karoo Aloe & Cucumber extract. It is balanced well to ensure that the key ingredients shine and create a beautifully balanced refreshing gin serve. On the nose it is juniper forward with a sweet edge to it, the delicate cucumber extract edges its way through. To taste it is crisp and refreshing, the earthy and refreshing notes of the plant based aloe and light cucumber is a delight on the palate. We paired with Fever-Tree Elderflower tonic water and a cucumber garnish. The floral notes of the tonic works oh so well and creates an utterly delicious G & T.
