L’altro giorno il Samu è andato con una cara amica a raccogliere delle erbette che casualmente erano spuntate vicino al campo e che non conoscevamo assolutamente “Mamma guarda!!! Ho trovato i bruscandoli!!!” A me sinceramente sembravano proprio degli asparagi selvatici... e così, poiché siamo sempre curiosi, siamo andati a curiosare sul web e abbiamo trovato che effettivamente si trattava di bruscandoli, chiamati anche “asparagina” proprio perché molto simili agli asparagi selvatici! Il Samu era eccitatissimo e insieme abbiamo deciso di farne qualcosa di speciale… un buon risotto! Mi ha aiutata a pulire le erbette, a lavarle e a preparare questa delizia che in men che non si dica è completamente finita! 2015 Giornata - Fiano (89 pts) @giornatawines · · ‍♂️ Favorite white wine variety❓· · ℹ️ This wine is Fiano, yes that's right Fiano. Fiano is a high quality white wine grape from Campania, Italy. It is most known from the town of Avellino, so why is it in Paso Robles❓ Giornata is dedicated to exploring the potential of Italian varieties in California. The fruit comes from Nightingale Ranch from San Miguel District AVA of Paso Robles. Hand harvested, destemmed fruit, and then left to soak on the skins for "a bit" (technical term). Stainless steel fermentation and partial Malolactic Fermentation. Filtered when bottled in mid-February of 2016· · Medium lemon color· · Medium intensity on the nose. Aromas of preserved lemon, quince, Asian pear, underripe nectarine, wet rock, yogurt, and peanut skins· · The wine is dry, medium+ acidity, medium alcohol, and medium+ body. Great chalky texture. A medium length finish of preserved lemon and wet rock· · Really amazed by this wine for a number of reasons· 1️⃣ - Italian white wines don't get a ton of love, but this does a great job of representing Fiano, but still being California· 2️⃣ - A white wine from Paso Robles coming in at 13.3% ABV· 3️⃣ - It was only $20· Overall, extremely well made and I had to fight off other people from finishing the bottle as it was that yummy. Now I have high expectations for their Nebbiolo that is going to be reviewed next.

2014 Giornata - Nebbiolo Luna Matta Vineyard (90 pts) @giornatawines · · ‍♂️ Name a good example of a wine from Italian grapes that is made outside of Italy❓· · ℹ️ This wine is Nebbiolo and it is an organic single vineyard, Luna Matta, in Paso Robles. The vineyard elevation is at 1750 ft with a thin layer of clay loam over calcareous substrate. Giornata is dedicated to exploring the potential of Italian varieties in California. Only native yeast fermentations. Aged for 24 months in French oak barrels with only 10% being new. The wine receives an additional 6 months of bottle age prior to release· · Medium- ruby color with a pale garnet rim· · Medium+ intensity on the nose. Aromas of ripe sour cherry, black cherry, raspberry, menthol, dried flowers, cola, and tar· · The wine is dry, high acidity, high drying and spicy tannins, medium alcohol, and medium body. Texture like a strong black tea. A medium+ length finish of dried cherry, dried flowers, and cinnamon spice· · Put this winery on your wine radar . This is a stunning example of Nebbiolo in California. Really enjoyed this wine with the ripe cherry medley that was very concentrated. The florals came out on the nose. Noticeable spicy Tannins with structure to age. Definitely need food to pair with it due to acidity level. Great texture. Love the long most neutral oak elevage. This is not what I think of when I hear Paso Wine. Impeccably made .
