Today we worked on dynamic angles. This is the next step to regular box control where we make sure to understand our angles. As you can see we have to constantly adjust our positioning in order to be square as the angles change quite a bit with moving the stick from one side to the other. The goalie has to react to the changes and choose the right way to move: shuffle/step/backsidepush/slide
Here’s a fun warmup drill for you: step - slide - save. It’ll loosen you up for practice and work on your coordination. The shooter aims pas the net, so you can slide and move further and still make a clean save. For the first progression start with a low shot to work on stick saves. Then a mid high shot and a high shot for the last time through.
And who knows... if you’ll find yourself way out of position in a game, you might use the step and slide to cover a long distance very quickly
Simplicity is This drill demonstrates a seam pass to high slot. @cproppsauce33 of @northbaybattalionofficial does an effective job:
1.Getting slight momentum
2. Getting feet and eyes set on level of shot on downward trajectory
3. Being patient on release point and driving to where the shot is travelling
4. Maintaining downward trajectory on drop .

: @knobsave -- just a clip here from the Strelow camp last week. Maybe not have the first shot at the goalies head but that's another topic. "Good fast-recovery slide drill, forcing the goalie (@kyle_keyser30) to read and react as he's sliding & not necessarily square to the puck when the shot is released"
: @topprospectsgoaltending -- love this drill. Watch the full thing for two reps by hand at the end. Always have a plan + a full toolbox. "Working different ways to up the puck to our D quickly and efficiently. Goalies work on getting puck flat, then delivering a hard, flat, accurate pass up (closing face of blade if needed) then as D is closer we look to deliver a hand pass again working keeping the puck flat and on D (other goalies) tape. Don't be afraid to bust out a new stick Greeny, they are free!"
: @vitasphysio ... bit of mobility for you all here.. read / watch full video

OPENING UP THE HIPS!
.
[hip rotation exs]
.
Hip mobility is crucial from a mechanical perspective in terms of performance. Having mobility in the hips allows adjacent areas to stay more stable, namely the core. This allow for more efficient transfer of force with less energy leaks
.
This is an active drill for hip rotation. Remember to initially resist the pull of the band but slowly give into it to get the nervous⚡️ system to learn how to function in these new ranges . Then once your at the limit you want to rotate actively towards the pull of the back. Meaning at the limit of the leg turning inward you want to contract the muscle that would further turn the leg inward
.
These are great as prep for lower body or athletic activity as well as part of a daily mobility routine
.
Tag a friend with tight hips, so they can get their rotation back
