I recently designed a poster and 10 signs for the Eco Explorer trail at @Bents gardenhome. As a family, we are big fans of Eco Explorer so I was delighted to be asked to work on this project for them. The poster and signs are now up in Bents and I can’t wait to go to see them. #marchmeetthemaker day 21: my design process... I start with research usually Pinterest, instagram, google, and if I feel it’ll help my process, I create a digital moodboard. This helps me keep on track and with colour palette ideas. I then sketch all motifs I’ll need and sometimes cut up paper in to shapes and stick down. Having fun trying out my designs on products to see what works this morning .... #marchmeetthemaker Day 15: Motivation/goals I go through periods of being hugely motivated and I’ll make steps towards my goals every day but then I can just suddenly step away for months and have a break. I can’t explain why, I don’t know if I burn myself out but I’m on track at the moment and that makes me happy. I’m enjoying creating so much at the moment so if anyone has any tips to stay on track, send them my way. Reworking an old pattern. Love the retro feel!! I’ve been rubbish at keeping up with @marchmeetthemaker as wasn’t always relevant to me but today’s is so here it is. Day 14 - How you Learnt. I studied graphic design at @york_college over 20 years ago and I more recently studied surface pattern design with @rachaeltaylor_ on @makeitindesign courses (modules 1-3). Cannot recommend this enough, I learnt so much. Saying that, I’ve still got loads to learn but I’m enjoying learning every day.
