“Spread the Word, It’s Spring”
(I just learned it actually was yesterday, while all my life I believed spring begun the 21th. Always!)

TWC rescued a gosling today after someone filmed him falling into a sewer in downtown Toronto. The poor gosling was following his family across the road when he rushed over a manhole cover and slipped right in! The person filming sent the video to @blogTO, and then Dani (BlogTO podcast host) contacted TWC and sent in the video to get him help! She spoke with TWC’s hotline staff member Vanessa, who carefully watched the video to pinpoint the location of the trapped gosling. She noticed businesses surrounding the busy street, and asked hotline staff member Julia to contact one. She asked the business owner if she could head outside towards the manhole and listen for peeping, and sure enough that’s what she heard!
Once they confirmed the baby was still down in the sewer, TWC’s rescue team was asked to retrieve him. They rushed the cold, frightened gosling to the wildlife hospital, where he was quickly and gently rinsed off, dried and then placed in an incubator to warm him up. He’s very weak and stressed, so rehabilitation staff are letting him rest before they give him a special bath and place him with an orphaned baby gosling currently in TWC’s care. Check back here for updates!
