It’s official. We rolled in to Harpers Ferry today, the spiritual halfway point of the Appalachian Trail. (True halfway is about 75 miles beyond where we are.) Yesterday, I hit the “emotional” or “spiritual” halfway point of the Appalachian Trail; Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. As cliche as it sounds, it seems like only a few days ago I was leaving from Amicalola State Park in Georgia, yet somehow I’ve lived a year’s-worth of experiences. I feel extremely lucky to have made it this far, but I’m also immensely proud of myself for the literal and figurative mountains I’ve climbed to get here. This trail is a great teacher.
