As I watched the video I thought, no one would of known of his hidden talent if they had not come to know the homeless man. Someone took the time to know him. Probably to help him. As a lot of ye know I feel so strongly for the homeless people. Last night in Dublin I walked passed a number of homeless people & it broke my heart each time but there was one I couldn't stop thinking about so I had to go back and talk to her. I met this lovely lady called Rosemary, I noticed she had a Guide dog, I asked her was she hungry and she answered me saying if I could afford to buy her something cheap she didn't mind what it was & just tap water as she was concerned for me incase I couldn't afford it. I went to McDonald's and got Rosemary a meal but while I was queueing I couldn't stop thinking about her. When I went back to her with the food I kneeled down beside her I could tell she loved chatting & the company. I asked rosemary why she didn't go to a homeless shelter & she told me that with her disability they won't take her which I think is disgraceful. Rosemary told me she doesn't have any family. She has been sleeping on the streets with her guide dog for several years now since the closure of johns lane west which was a night shelter. It was the only premises that DRHE had available after she was attacked on the streets, she stayed there for 3 months untill it was closed. Most of the shelters won't except an individual with complex needs. Rosemary is severely sight impaired masular dystrophy & suffers with chronic pain caused by fibromyalgia. Rosemary was told a year or two ago by the DRHE they had accommodation for her. But unfortunately with her disability the accommodation didn't suit as it was up a spiral staircase with 44 steps. It is months on & she is still sleeping on the streets she spends hours on the phone to a freephone number fighting for a suitable place to sleep. They keep giving her excuses saying they don't have staff to assist her and there Insurance won't cover her and all. This just breaks my heart is there anything we can do as this is clearly not right!!!
