Haven’t done one of these in a while, so here’s today’s egg line up . The bottom two blues are from blue wheaten ameraucanas, the light greens are from easter eggers, olives are from various generations of olive eggers, the “pink” ones are from either project birds or marans, and finally the chocolates are from my black copper marans!

Oh the life of owning poultry really does have its crappy days. I have to dose Charlie twice a day in hopes that the treatment is working. I watch her for hours sometimes hoping that I see improvement. I’m always watching the other two like hawks just in case whatever she has isn’t contagious. Echo shuffled a little this morning and I’m praying that she just lost her balance by accident and that she doesn’t have whatever Charlie does. There’s this rare genetic disorder that can cause these symptoms (and of course there’s no treatment). If that’s the case then Blue shouldn’t get this. The vet is coming for a fourth time this week ‍♂️. I don’t mind spending the money, but I just feel bad for constantly giving her injections multiple times a day . I’m having him run a blood test and fecal smear, hoping this is just a nasty parasite.

Sylvester: the last of our original chickens. We purchased our very first chickens about three years ago. We got four “teenage” hens and three turned out to be roosters. We rehomed one and lost two over the last few years. Sylvester, originally named Sylvia, is still going on strong!! We really do cherish this sweet, chatty boy so much

Little peanut sleeping on top of one of the emu eggs ❤️. These little buttons hatch out the size of bumblebees, and I always feel like I’m going to break them when I pick them up! I was thinking about adding tortoises in the emu pen! How awesome would it be to see a 100 pound tortoises walking around with some velociraptors (aka emus) .
