Yesterday I went to go canvass the neighborhood. Trying to put up some flyers for @vidayogaboston and I realized that this community is so supportive. I think I only had two or three "no" responses. I don't fault them. They had their reasons. But they were overshadowed by the high "yes" responses. I was terrified going into these places. I mean yeah I speak Spanish and yeah I believe in what I do. But going to these businesses where their first language is Spanish was a bit intimidating. But I did it. Maybe I fumbled with my Spanish in the beginning but as I got into it I was just fine. Please do not confuse my real for being negative. I'm sharing this because I thought it was a good lesson. Yesterday I decided to breakdown and confess to my boyfriend how absolutely terrified I am about starting my own business. But it feels ridiculous to be terrified. I also don't know why exactly I'm terrified or it could be many things I'm terrified about that are just impossible to sift through. Could I be afraid of success? I'm equally terrified of not getting students as I am actually getting students? What if I'm not good enough? I don't think I'm brave enough to do this. It's almost easier to quit and tell the world it failed rather than put in the hard work to make it succeed. I believe in what I'm doing and I've gotten a tremendous amount of support, but it's like I don't want to believe it. I compare myself to others who are more successful. I'm doing things that aren't positive and I'm freaking out about it all. My boyfriend just said to me "you're only going to know if you go through it. You're only going to get better at teaching by doing it. I'm here to support you through it all so if there's anyone you need to believe, it's me. You are a great person and I believe in you"...... I think my face was like this for about an hour like I was expecting him to listen and just be reassuring but what I got was a message. Even if I don't know the future it'll all be ok. The truth is failure isn't bad. I've failed millions of times and look at me now. And honestly if I find failure to be so easy then really I'm scared of hard work. I'm so sorry... Hard work is not scary. I'm feeling stronger today than I have been this past week. Sure the unknown is still a bit scary but I am brave enough to go through it to see what's on the other side. Whatever it is... This is it. There is no turning back. Tomorrow is the day. It's finally hit me how big of a step this is and instead of being scared I'm running towards it. The love that has been given to me is my strength. Friends and family sharing my dream with their friends and family. The word is getting out there and I couldn't feel more steady than I do at this moment. I've surrendered. I'm at peace. I've done all I can do before the doors to my new yoga program start and now all I can do is teach when they open tomorrow. I told y'all to watch me! . . I'm so happy to share my life with y'all.
