Hit the ball hard as often as possible. It’s a simple concept, and one @dj_lemahieu does extremely well. Not hit the ball on the ground hard, not hit the ball in the air hard, just hit it hard. (Everyone’s approach is different, so find what thought works for your specific swing). Here’s the funny thing about that though; if you are consistently hitting the ball hard against the best pitchers on earth it means your barrel is in the zone a long time and is matching pitch plane. If those two things are occurring, homers are gonna be a byproduct without sacrificing average or strikeouts. Give yourself a giant window to make solid contact and good things will happen.
@kschwarb12 creating A+ seperation with the upper and lower half. Watch those hips fire and initiate his swing.

Also, take a look at his barrel. Watch its first movement behind his shoulder, most people grew up learning take the knob to the ball, fastest path between two objects is a straight line, blah blah blah When in reality this reward barrel movement is necessary to get on plane early and stay short to the ball.

It also helps to be built like an absolute brick house as well

Great drill to feel barrel path and connection. Two handed swings with a one hand bat. The keys are to feel the back elbow connect in the proper sequence and also to allow the ball to travel and stay behind it vs going to get it with our hands. It also forces the hitter to create good posture and plate coverage with the shoulders instead of the arms. Any type of flaw is magnified because the barrel is so short. Lastly it also helps a hitter have more barrel awareness. Can you adjust because you know where your body and barrel are in space or are you going to do the same thing and hope you hit it?

⚙️This one gets complicated! In a nutshell, both athletes are spinning violently - then their bodies stop rotating - arms and respective tools race on. In physics, this would be inertial force at work (on the bat). But let’s keep it simple for the kids: If a crash test dummy’s car collides into a wall at 60 miles per hour, without a seat belt, he will fly through the front window. But nothing forced him out the window. The dummy was moving at 60 mph WITH the car - and the CAR stopped - he simply continued moving in the direction he was going. It is much the same with the barrel of a bat: Elite hitters accelerate the barrel very early - it is up to speed before contact. By stopping the body turn, it allows the barrel to continue on a more linear direction toward the oncoming pitch. Imagine the hammer in the (swipe) clip as the bat. If the athlete does not stop spinning, the amount of timing required to release it in the proper direction would be near perfection. As a hitters we want the same advantage. •
⚙️This is where many youth hitters struggle. Assuming they aren’t lead hand dominant, their barrel will continue to arc pull-side with their turn, causing misses and generally week contact. This is why he hears “you are pulling off the ball” from coach. •
⚙️There are variations of how to execute the move, but let’s tie in recent posts as a start. if you are late with your hip turn, and not able to fight the ground with your lead leg, you will have little chance of supporting the forces involved in decelerating your body. Done properly though, I have seen all ages groups successfully execute it, all while adding big time power and more consistent hard contact. ♂️♂️♂️Jordan is 16 - erroneously noted “draft age” as his current... #hittinganalysis
So many good nuggets here! Can you name them all?

The young phenom is here. The at-contact mechanics are state of the art, at least in terms of ultra advanced hitting instruction.
1. Hips have cleared
2. Chest open at contact
3. Virtually jumps off the ground from front leg drive
4. Body stalls, barrel flys
It’s coming. You just need to know what to look for...let’s see which coaches erroneously claim rear hip action on this one #hittinganalysis
Love the 360 view of @michael_chavis11 hitting his first grand slam last night. Couple big keys points to watch in this swing. Notice how well his rear hip stays coiled until he hits the ground, but then how fast it unloads while his upper body resists and holds posture. This is what creates the stretch in his core which generates the crazy bat speed he has. Another thing to notice is how well the barrel works rearward, entering the zone and accelerating early to give him as much room for error as possible.
