This piece is still probably one of the strongest and most poignant that I have performed , was mid way through the all male burlesque show I did @burlexe_boylexe , originally set in the 80’s in the Middle of the AIDS epidemic, I brought it up to the present day and put a a lot of what is my experience of living with HIV in today’s climate, not ya typical piece for a burlesque show. I have been crowned Mr Gay England 2018 ️‍ and I am so proud!! after the events of last week and the amazing opportunity that joining Positive East will provide, This is an incredible honour and will provide me with a great platform to help people way beyond my social group to come to terms with a new diagnosis of contracting and living HIV. Mum posted this on Facebook , I spent years hiding the fact I was #hivpositive from my mum for fear that she wouldn’t be able to cope with the news and wouldn’t understand what it really means to have HIV if you are on medication, not only has she coped,accepted but is #proud of the work I am embarking on!
