Sunday on point ⚡️ Slowing down with a good book and massive lie in. I woke up at 9.45am today. I can't remember the last time I slept so long. I'm usually up by 6.30 and into a morning routine of meditation, yoga and journaling before 7.30, even on weekends. Sometimes it's nice to treat yourself to some down time because it's hard to have boundaries between work and life when you're freelancing or running your own business. How do you separate work and life? I'd love to know

By nature, I'm a planner. I love to set my day full of activities, errands, and coffee dates from morning to night. Most Saturdays for me look like this: reading, yoga or a run, farmer's market, brunch (with matcha obvii). And while it's important to plan and have goals, it's also important to be flexible within that. To make sure you're not too busy to help a friend, to take an important phone call, to pray for a stranger. (Something I'm still working on). I spent most of yesterday staring at the sky in silence because of course I would get laryngitis on the bank holiday weekend @louise_hay_affirmations connects physical ailments in the body to things that are happening for us on an emotional level. Apparently laryngitis correlates with a fear of speaking up, resentment of authority or being so angry you can't speak. Interesting stuff to consider... I'm definitely on a path of finding my voice and feeling more confident in speaking up for the things I believe in, particularly around male suicide and how we tackle gender equality and men's health issues. And I know there's so much more I want to say... All I can say now is, watch this space, I think this might be the beginning of an interesting journey. Happy weekend, all

I'm trying to live by this more. Since being self-employed, I've found it's so tempting (and easy) to say yes to things you're not really interested in, or think you're not 100% suited to because of the fear. Fear of lack of money, fear that something better won't come along, fear that you might not be able to attract the things you really want. But all this really does is take you further from what you do want... it's not just business either, the same principle applies to relationships, and social activities. I'm challenging myself to say no more. And it's feeling pretty good so far. So I'm challenging you to do the same, what can you say no to this week!? Let me know how you go ⚡️ mantramagazine

The reality of freelance life can often be very different from the expectation that others have of you and that you have of yourself. Today was a rollercoaster. Productive morning followed by spiralling self doubt. But most of all this sense of feeling really alone in doing what I'm doing and still seeking a big kickass community of people who get me... The irony is that's exactly what I'm trying to create but being a victim of the very thing I'm trying to solve keeps holding me back. Interesting how the stories we tell ourselves can impact our energy so much... I hate marketing and pushing myself on others and that's exactly how I feel when I talk about events or services I offer so I try to dilute my message and distance myself from the selling because it feels less like I'm selling 'myself'. But what I'm realising is that doesn't really work either, because it loses the magic. I am the magic, I am the thing that makes what I offer different to what anyone else is doing. And it's the same for you guys. We are the secret sauce. So no more trying to fit magic marketing formulas or worrying about what I 'should' be doing. Just authentic, raw and honest truth about what being part of my community and the spaces I want to create can help you achieve.
