KIRKSTONE PASS -------------------------------------------- Good morning Insta chums Dovey @timdovephotography in residence today. -------------------------------------------- So what's on the menu for you all today? Well my image today was taken from Kirkstone Pass looking down to Ullswater. Named after one of the large boulders situated on top of the pass, it links Ambleside to the valley of Patterdale in the Eastern Lake District. It is home to the Kirkstone Pass Inn at the highest point of the Pass (1400ish feet) if you are peckish or thirsty. The mountain pass is a great place to explore and is the starting point to various walks. The views from the Pass are stunning but my favourite is down into Patterdale. My shot was taken near the top of the Pass, there are plenty of boulders, becks and you can use the windy road down the valley as a lead into to that awesome view. It's easy enough to access at either Ambleside or Ullswater. The Pass is part of A592 which is a major route running from Penrith to Staveley and is definitely one of the easier Lake District passes to negotiate. Plenty of places to park up and taken in the view. Caveman ⁣⁣ ⁣ The Cathedral quarries in the Lake District are a pretty special place to explore. Made up of a series of inter-linked quarries, a walk through its many long, pitch-black tunnels feels a million miles away from the area’s usual rolling hills and lakes. ⁣ ⁣ Although maybe not one to do straight after watching a horror movie!⁣

Soooo can we have a refund for Summer 2019 please? What a load of pants it’s been eh? The odd summery few days then a big old heap of muggy grey rainy days..! . . . I really hope we’ve got good crisp Autumnal and heavy snow winter seasons ahead of us ☀️☃️.. Here’s one from earlier this year.. I didn’t get out much in the snow as Sod’s Law it mainly fell on the days I was in work.. but this day has probably been my favourite one of the year so far, it was Magical! We had to free the bus from skidding on ice at Elterwater, grit was kindly provided by @thebritanniainn , I then met a lovely elderly chap at Blea Tarn who was sharing stories with me of his 40+ years of fun on the fells and this.. a Snow covered Langdale and my first Brocken Spectre Have a great Sunday Loves!

Lake life ⁣ ⁣ Though it may not look it from here, Lake Windermere is the biggest natural lake in all of England.⁣ ⁣ Because of its size you can’t really appreciate it in its full glory unless you are willing to climb high enough.⁣ ⁣ The views from Todd Crag looking out over Windermere are some of the best we experienced while at the lakes - a photographer’s paradise too!
