Today is day ✌of #AloDualities and we are working on Downward facing dog
Yesterday our pose was up dog, so it makes sense that it’s natural counterpart is down dog!
In a traditional down dog, you don’t want to bend the back at all, rather draw the low front ribs up in towards the spine. I chose a different variation which made it seemingly impossible to do that though
There are a lot of dualities in down dog:
The external rotation of the shoulders vs the internal rotation of the forearm
The rooting down of the heels vs the drawing up of the thighs towards the hip sockets
The flexing of the shins and thighs vs the lengthening of the calves and hamstrings
And so much more.
The longer I’ve come to understand this pose, the more perplexing it has become for me
The variations make it all the more fun to figure out!
