Running south from Prešernov trg to the Old Town is the much celebrated Triple Bridge, originally called Špital (Hospital) Bridge. When it was built as a single span in 1842 it was nothing spectacular, but between 1929 and 1932 superstar architect Jože Plečnik added the two pedestrian side bridges, furnished all three with stone balustrades and lamps, and forced a name change. Škofja Loka area broadly speaking consists of three parts: the city of Škofja Loka, the Poljanska dolina Valley and Selška dolina Valley. Each part has its "own" mountain which dominates the sights and the hearts of the inhabitants : Škofja Loka has Mt. Lubnik, Poljanska Valley Mt. Blegoš and Selška Valley Mt. Ratitovec. Ratitovec is considered to be the south-easternmost summit of Julian Alps. Even if the massif is rounded, it shows also several steep rock faces and already an overall high alpine character, as it is manifested in Julian Alps. The area is very popular in all times of season. Due to broad panoramas on all sides and abundant flora, these are perfect hiking goals. The net of marked paths is dense and people are coming from various directions. Just below the top there is a mountain hut, which is usually opened also in winter (for weekends). In winter, Ratitovec is also a perfect ski tour, appropriate for a quick half day ski trip. About 8-kilometres long valley beneath Mount Triglav has been praised as one of the most beautiful parts of the Julian Alps since the beginning of mountaineering. The Valley of the Triglav Lakes or the Seven Lakes Valley is an Alpine glacial valley. The valley itself is the result of the mighty overthrust of the Slatna plate, whereas the formation of the lakes on the karstified ground was enabled by the impermeable sediments. The Valley of the Triglav Lakes, which has been protected as a national park since 1924, boasts a varied terrain, interesting flora and fauna, fossils and Alpine animals. /Bohinj.si/ PS: Keep in mind: Alpine lakes at high altitudes are highly sensitive and vulnerable living environments. Jamnik is a really small settlement on the eastern slopes of the Jelovica Plateau, literally bellow the less traveled road between Kropa and Dražgoše There are many similar villages scattered around those hills, but Jamnik is famous by its Church of St. Primus and Felician, which is built close to the village at an impressive location on a hill overlooking most of the northern part of the Ljubljana Basin with the mountain chain of Karavanke as a backdrop towards the north and the Kamnik–Savinja Alps towards the east.
