Size inclusivity. I've been learning so much from the conversations this week about size inclusivity, and I am pretty darn excited to try out something new. :: This is me, up above, in my just finished #winterfellcardigan. As you will likely notice, most patterns work for my size. But not all patterns give large knitters the same welcoming experience. :: @jacquelinecieslak, @keinhelm4 and @fattestknits, are powerful voices on the issue of size inclusivity. Because of them, I’m trying out something new with sweater yarn packs I’ve been developing. These are yarn packs for sweaters I’ve personally knit. :: The problem is that Winterfell Cardigan and Darkwater sweater are the first two packs I had planned, but the patterns aren't what I consider (fully) inclusive. Winterfell is only graded to 48" and Darkwater, while graded to 56.75“, fits a 53.75” bust if you add in the recommended ease. This leaves people out, which isn’t what I aspire to do. :: Here's how I'm going to make my yarn packs size inclusive: If you want to knit a size above what the pattern is currently written for, your yarn pack will include a complementary hour of grading from an experienced tech editor to grade the pattern to fit your bust measurement. I will not offer yarn packs that exclude people. The grading will be yours. (And, @ahribokatrinchen and @knit.love.wool, if you’d like to get involved and incorporate some grading officially into the pattern, let me know. I bet my shop customers might be willing to share their numbers.) :: I have also done the math to include the right amount of yarn you will need.
