Thearavada Buddhism is the official religion in #beautifulcambodia which is practiced by 95 percent of the Khmer population, similar to Thailand, Burma, Sri Lanka. Daoism and Confuism are also practiced among the Chinese people in the country.
Earning merit is an important of Buddhist life. Buddhists in Cambodia earn merit by giving money, goods, and labor to the temples, or by providing one of the two daily meals of the monks. Children often look after the fruits trees and vegetable gardens inside their local Wat, or temple. Boys can earn merit by becoming temple servants or novice monks for a short time. Most young men remain monks for less than a year.
There are many temples to visit all around Cambodia, with possibilities of even residing within them for short periods of time during your spiritual journey.

The allure of #beautifulcambodia is never ending, and we highly recommend exploring Angkor Park, to see all the gargantuan temples and the majestic history that accompanies it. Sunrise is absolutely the best time to visit these gorgeous temples, as the sun cascading over these historically, beautiful buildings is something magical. The temperatures are also low enough to enjoy more than one temple, as the afternoons tend to get scorching hot. If you want to spread out your visit to the temple, multiple day tours are available, and travelers can really divulge in this cultural Khmer experience. #Cambodia has been UNREAL! The night I arrived I met the best #TukTuk driver in the whole country and ended up sleeping at his house in rural #SiemReap for 3 days. Next thing you know, I’m hopping from ancient temple to ancient temple while wild monkeys are running their fingers through my hair. Soon after I’m riding water buffaloes through #Kampot Pepper Plantations and partying on a private beach in #KohRongSamloem. It’s a beautiful country with an ancient history and a bitter past. I’d happily go back to my TukTuk drivers house for another week, but I’ve got a flight to #Bangkok waiting for me! I’ll be back here, one day! Thanks Cambodia and an even bigger thanks to the best TukTuk driver in the world: Mr. Pheak! One love. One nation. ❤️
A nice view over Kampot, Cambodia

Did you know Cambodia is just out of a genocide that ended 40 years ago? They loosed about 2 millions people between 1975 to 1979.
⠀
I learned all about what they went through during my time there. If you are interested about history and learn about how it happened and how it affected the country, I recommend you to go to Phnom Penh and visit the “killing fields” first and then go to “S-21” museum. They will both give you goose bumps
And very important ➡️➡️ TAKE the AUDIO GUIDE. It changes everything.
⠀
Have you been to those 2 museum? How did you find it?
Angkor Wat is known to be one of the Wonders of the World, and lucky for you it is situated in #beautifulcambodia.
Cambodia, however, has so much more up its sleeves to offer travelers, sunrises and sunsets to mention two. The temples all over Cambodia are fascinating places to find yourself when the sun rises or sets. We highly recommend making your way to Angkor Wat for the magical sunrise tour. The picturesque setting is one where dreams are made of.

With all the wondrous sites and activities in #beautifulcambodia it's hard to find yourself bored or even slightly unentertained. Instead of only spending a night in the capital, Phnom Penh, invest your time in exploring the ins and out of this spectacular city. The city is captivating as it integrates urban development with provincial life. The markets in the city are a great place to start. Sharing your space with local merchants, you might discover the most special trinkets and silks the country has to offer. The markets are also a great place to buy the freshest fruits and vegetables as well as diving into the street food culture of Cambodia. While doing all this travelers are supporting the local community and helping the Khmer people grow their own businesses. We always recommend sustainable travel, and this is an easy and convenient way to do so.
