Kauri trees are known as the oldest and largest trees in New Zealand. But you’ll be surprised to know there are also some other types that’ve made it to the top: 1️⃣ New Zealand kauri in Waipoua forest (Northland) is around 2,500 year old, which makes it the oldest tree in the country 2️⃣ Totara in Mangapehi (Southern Waikato) is approximately 1,800 years old 3️⃣ Pohutukawa tree in Stones Bay (the Coromandel) is ‘only’ about 1,110 y.o. @suzannefreiherz
