I’ve never participated in #memademay2019 mostly because I always thought it was for hand sewn clothing... maybe it is? I don’t know . I knit my first sweater last January (2018). Since, I’ve knit 6 more (two aren’t pictured here!) Sweater knitting is my favourite, it brings me the most joy and it’s usually the only type of garment that I finish (I’m looking at you never ending Find your Fade shawl!) Hopefully with the help of @nauticalstudios I’ll be able to get some decent photos of these on! (But I still need to seam the under arms of my very sweater because I detest the Kitchener stitch!) From top to bottom: Swoncho (made into a cute t-shirt sweater) Soldotna Crop Tecumseh (cropped tee) (All of the above designed by @boylandknitworks) No Frills by @petiteknit and lastly a sweater by Lopi (I can’t remember the design name off the top of my head!) (Missing are my Ingalls sweater and flax light!) Edit: I totally forgot about my very first Tecumseh sweater which I just recently gifted to my mom because she looks unreal in it (seriously it was kind of annoying how good it looked on her )

Just your average solo parenting day: Youngest cries 80% of the day because teething is hard, oldest refuses to wear pants and informs you that they tossed your @bqueencollection crochet hook in the garbage and while changing a shitty diaper your glasses fall off your face and right into said shit. This mom life is messy but it’s still beautiful, like these speckles

And I must say it looks great on each of them. Hey, I made an #ursasweater! I’m going to be vulnerable for a minute: my sweet friend Jillian @logeephoto snapped this photo of me on our hike yesterday - and I love it - and even though I love it, and even though @levequerin said I look like a forest goddess, it was still really hard to post this. If you look through my profile, you’ll find every few photos of me, and I think you’ll MAYBE find one of my full body. Part way through making this sweater, I cried. Because I had to add bust darts, and my short rows looked awkward (side note - not the pattern’s fault, just my clumsy short rows), and I cried because I just wanted a smaller body. A smaller body so I wouldn’t have to add bust darts. A smaller body so I could use less yarn. So I could finish faster. But: I’ve been following more knitters who look like me. More designers who design garments for my body. And it’s helping. Slowly. But it’s helping. So I told Jillian yesterday that I wanted to take a photo of my new sweater, because I wanted someone with a body like mine to see it, and feel seen. So maybe I can slowly help someone else, too. Happy Tuesday, friends! It was a super nice and busy weekend over here.
