Fine Hair: if you want the highlights to pop it should be a 30/70 highlight to depth ratio. What will that do Create contrast. . . . Fine hair blends very naturally. Balayage Touchup = Same starting price as a balayage service that you pull through to the ends. Why? Lets dive in . . . Balayage vs Balayage Touchup Round 1! So this to me is like a “haircut vs trim” they are both the same thing. Same steps are needed to be taken for the overall result no matter if you are taking off 1/2” of hair or 6”. With balayage it is the same principle. . . . The only difference? Product usage. In a touchup I typically use less product/take less time so the starting price will rarely fluctuate unless someone has a sh*t ton of hair. Same sectioning, same meticulous blend, same result and typically the same amount of time(maybe 15min less). Why does it take the same time? CLOTHING MATTERS. . . . Would you believe this side by side was taken the same day with the same guest? Oh and the photos were not edited. So why does the hair look so different? Its her clothing y’all. Literally the only thing that was changed is the clothing. . . . What I have noticed over the time I have took pictures on my wall is that light hair + light clothing = does not go together. So you will see on my feed that typically everyone is wearing black. The Iphone tries to adapt to the exposure. If it feels like the picture is to light it will create more contrast and vice versa. . . . I am all about less complicated when it comes to pictures. Although I spend about 20+ minutes taking my after pictures, I really don’t like the hassle of a camera. So I use my good ole Iphone X for it all. The hair I never edit in my photos but I will make the background “white” for a cleaner look to my feed. . . . Your skills have increased and so should your prices! . 3️⃣ You should hire an assistant. Now you have the ability to double and possibly triple book. This will double and possibly triple your income. Although a price increase isn’t really needed for this step, your income will increase. . 4️⃣ Received Industry Recognition. Like if you have received any awards, sponsorships, or have been recognized on global platforms like #ONESHOT it’s time for the prices to go up. Not only do your guests know you are talented, but the industry does too! . 5️⃣ You have upgraded the space you work in. If you move from a salon that does everything and isis not really your style or your Target Markets...to one that is highly specialized, is a visual upgrade and over all vibe is it’s time to go up! Typically I will break it up into 2 appointments but why? Let’s find out... . . a One...if I have to go in and create depth I want to truly focus on that. My Color Melts are done in a way that creates a balayage look if the right amount of highlights already exist. . . a Two-hoo...I don’t love the outcome as much when I bunch both together. Now don’t get me wrong, the results are gorgeous...but I don’t like looking at the color and finding things I would like to tweak just a bit. . . a Three...it’s much more meticulous and time intensive. Time is money and it takes a lot of time to completely execute a Melt and highlight correctly. Which will rack up the $$$. . . .
