ASSISTANTS. We are looking for one now! So, message us. Over the years we have developed our assistant program into something we are proud of. With that, assistants are moving from assisting to stylists on the floor. Izzy, pictured here, is quickly moving through the ranks and will be assisting Mel and Bekah full-time for her final steps. Mel did her color too. What do we look for in an assistant? The most important quality is passion. You have to love this stuff. Assisting is a boot camp of sorts where we break you down to build you back up (not emotionally, we aren't that kind of salon, haha.) But, assisting is certainly difficult. We ask you to take everything you learned in beauty school and put it aside. When you assist at The Hair Standard, you are getting hands-on training from stylists with 15+ years of experience. Anyone who has been in the game that long has their own way of doing things and when you train with them, you learn their way. From the bottom up, brush size to unicorn hair. We could write a book on assisting, or a hefty manual at least. But, let's spread that out over multiple posts.
