Feel very welcome to come by and take part in the project Layers of the Self-Organized City by Maj Horn when we meet at Huset later today from 3-5 pm. The project seek to explore new ways of mapping Aalborg’s social spaces and community economies by engaging with the city’s self-organizing culture. In Maj’s work she is particularly involved in urban spaces and various forms of community, here she engages in exploring identities of places, knowledge sharing methods, and ownership strategies. She utilizes traditional artistic forms including photography, video, and installations, combined with procedural and performative actions such as workshops, walks, and dialogues. Methods and themes that she has been working with since 2012, among other in the project Maps for Copenhagen. Maps for Copenhagen is the first guidebook to the city Copenhagen in both Danish, English, and Arabic. The book represents knowledge about the city, advice, and shared experiences that have arisen in the process of its creation. It’s made in collaboration with researcher Signe Rom and the users of the Trampoline House - a culture hub in Copenhagen for asylum seekers, migrants, and everyone else. This event series is the first iteration of her ongoing research-based art project that explores new ways of mapping Aalborg’s social spaces and community economies by engaging with the city’s self-organized culture.
