What are you giving up?
To excel in anything you need to prepare for it. Good intentions and plans tend to fizzle away.
This is what I am doing to prepare for lent:
1. Read the Pope's messages, always a great guide.
2. Sensitize the closest people to me so I have an accountability circle. If my crew is all about lent, then lent it is. My children are great enforcers so I got them engaged to.
3. Purge my heart of anything negative, any unforgiveness, and going into the lenten season with an open, repentant and clean heart.
4. I am always praying but hoping to say the rosary more and also Novenas too. Also dig deeper into the bible/word of God. So I'll be setting reminders on my phone.
5. Lent is about sacrifice so I'll be giving up both physical things and certain attitude traits. Jesus gave everything for me, let me go thru this journey without certain pleasures...all in reverence to my Lord and Saviour.
6. Impacting anyone that comes my way. This will be a good time to offend me LOL!
6. Be expectant. On Easter day...it will be glorious.
So after lent, is it back to square one? NO! it's a renewal and deeper commitment to be an exemplary Christian. So help me God.
Do you observe lent? What do you do to make the season count?

A priest and a monk stood on a street corner… the beginning to a bad joke? Or a way to acknowledge Ash Wednesday? Br. Dylan and I stood out by the Alderney Ferry Terminal today during rush hour with Ashes to Go, for those on their commute to be able to acknowledge Ash Wednesday. We’ll be back out there from 3:30-5:30 (ish) again, for those on their way home. Come by and say hi, learn about Ash Wednesday, and to remember you are dust and to dust you shall return!
