Она приветливо улыбается и идет дальше. ⠀ «Здравствуйте!» -говорю я своим питерским соседям из 2-го подъезда, а они делают вид, что не слышат, стыдливо опускают глаза и спешно проносятся дальше. ⠀ Вот такая разница менталитетов. Европеец демонстрирует улыбку незнакомцу, давая понять что он настроен доброжелательно, а в нашем пространстве человек демонстрирует безопасное поведение как-бы «не замечая» другого. ⠀ Но, мне ближе европейский подход, даже если это «дежурная» улыбка. Приятнее смотреть на улыбающиеся и приветливые лица. Европейцы, кстати, гораздо проще заговаривают и знакомятся с незнакомцами. ⠀ А вы часто улыбаетесь незнакомым людям? ☁️ mental health awareness month ☁️ • • • • as promised, my weekly mental health post for you guys. Last week I shared with you the details of how I was diagnosed with anxiety my second/third year of college, due mostly in part to a chemical imbalance from multiple surgeries in a short period of time that involved a lot of different medicines cycling in and out of my system. • • • * I want to speak about the 2 years after this where my anxiety formed into something I somewhat can understand now. My first major panic attack occurred during a ceremony for my sorority that I had already been through before, nothing crazy or out the ordinary but somehow my body didn’t feel strong enough to stand and make it through it as it had in the past without reason. We just were standing there but i felt weak, overheated and faint. • • • * It felt like no one that I was surrounded by understood my feelings and my struggles or my thoughts to the extent I wanted them to. I was constantly surrounded by friends, family, co-workers but I never felt truly at peace and I constantly had a knot in my stomach that was caused by constant bundles of nervous and anxious thoughts about things I had no control over making rounds through my daily routine. • • • * My family was going through a massive change, it seemed my last boyfriend and I weren’t on the same page ever, I was accepting taking on a double major + minor at Uni, recruitment chair of my sorority, taking on two jobs at the same time to save and apply to study abroad, starting my journey into the world of social media, and on the executive committee of the Communication Honor Sorority at school. I was tired - I was stressed - I was overworked and I was in a constant anxious state. • • • * My saving grace was getting away from it all. Going to study abroad was my one-way ticket to try and find myself again + that’s what I did...
