We're back from traveling! We were gone for a few days to visit my family and the day before we left I got incredibly sick with vertigo. So it's been a little radio silent here. So for World Whisky day, Debbie (@recipesbydebbie) and I both wanted to feature a Canadian Whisky. I absolutely loved the cocktail she featured, that I wanted to highlight it for an #LCFeature. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This Old Fashioned is called the Rain Man and is created by the team at Delta Toronto. So YESSS, I’m going to stop by there soon to have a sip, because it’s across the street...so I have no excuse ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s made with Crown Royal Whisky, Boulard Calvados, Sweet Vermouth and Maple Syrup. For the Maple Syrup, I used Kinsip’s Barrel Aged Maple Syrup, and I swapped out the cherry in the original recipe for an orange zest, because the truth is...your girl doesn’t really like brandied cherries Just too sweet for my preference. Old Friend. I've only made this cocktail a couple of times. It's sweet, bitter, approachable, and balanced. I pulled this one from @mixographer's Bartender's Manual. He calls it a distant relative to the Old Pal. I see it as a first cousin to a Jasmine. He's the creator, though. So, what he says goes. Recipe: - 1 1/2 oz London Dry Gin (@beefeatergin_us) - 3/4 oz grapefruit juice - 1/2 oz @campariofficial - 1/4 oz @stgermaindrinks Add everything to a shaker tin with ice. Shake and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist. Do you remember your first taste of Campari? Campari was the first Amaro I ever tried... (Well I guess Jäger counts, but 21 year old Zach didn't really know wtf was going on, nor did he try to actually taste it.) I was learning about classic cocktails on the internet and kept coming across this thing called a "Negroni." So I sought out a bottle of Campari to make one. I couldn't figure out how anyone could possibly enjoy this stuff. Flash forward a few years and now I'm a regular ole Steve Zissou. ❤️ It took a while to get to sipping Campari on the rocks, but it didn't take long for me to realize how versatile it is in a cocktail. It's great like it is here, balancing and adding depth to an otherwise sweet drink. It kicks ass with pineapple, like in a Jungle Bird. It's 1/2 of the booze in what might be the world's most refreshing cocktail, the Americano. A 50/50 shot with Wray and Nephew ain't bad either. This Vineyard Crush is an intriguing summer sipper. Strawberries and plump grapes go alongside lemon & tangy yogurt over crushed ice that all adds a playful touch to Cognac (because #nationalcognacday ). Black pepper & pink peppercorn add a spicy kick as you sip & it’s topped with sugared grapes because I love a snack with my cocktail and sugared grapes are a refreshing treat in the heat! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ V I N E Y A R D C R U S H ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2 1/4 oz Cognac, I used H by @hinecognacs 5 small red grapes ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4 small strawberries ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3/4 oz simple syrup ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1/2 oz lemon juice ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1 tbsp Greek yogurt ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Garnish: dash black pepper, pink peppercorns, sugared grapes⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Muddle fruit. Add Cognac, syrup, lemon & yogurt. Shake with ice. Double strain over crushed ice. Top with fresh cracked black pepper, pink peppercorns & sugars grapes.
