Our end-of-the-year portrait art pieces will be going home this week! We did the project at the beginning of the year, & I love doing it at the end of the year to see how much our little kiddos have changed! Zoom in to see their hilarious “facts” about themselves. :: Due to popular request, I’ve recorded how to do these sweet pieces with your kiddos! I don’t really give them formal instruction on what to draw, it’s VERY open-ended. I generally just tell them they have to color their whole entire paper. We usually use oil pastels & gel crayons! Next, I take their photos on my phone: I make them stand to the side and open their mouth. I convert the photos to black & white and put them onto my computer. I put each photo into a Word Document usually with .5 inch margins & print it off. Then I cut them out. Next, I ask the kiddos: “How old are you?” “What’s something you like to eat?” “What’s something you think is yucky?” OR “What’s something that makes you sad?” “What do you like to do?” (If they just say “play,” I usually ask them “What do you like to play with?”) “What do you want to be when you grow up?” “What’s your favorite color?” I type it all up, print, cut, assemble!
