The mom was perched in her spot as the first fluffball popped up right below and then the other rose up on her other side. I just started firing away and trying to capture as many frames possible of this amazing scene. With so many great poses of the group it was hard to pick which one to edit and post first, but this one stood out to me the most. Sometimes small shifts in how we coordinate a movement can have a big effect on which areas of the body are asked to work and how.
. . .
For example, when we move from a kneeling position to a kneeling stand/tall kneel, our default is usually to go with the path of least resistance. That generally involves a forward lean of the chest and a swinging of the hips to rise up - which is A-OK nothing wrong with it at all
. . .
However if we were, say... interested in concentrically contracting our quadriceps against resistance for some possible strengthening benefits , then we might choose to move through this transition in a different way.
. . .
Instead of leaning our chest forward, if we keep our spine vertical with our head staying directly above our hips, we create more of a load with our torso that our quadriceps are lucky enough to get to move.
. . .
See if you notice the difference if you try this out! I like to move through several repetitions of the movement - both up, which is the concentric phase, and down, which is the eccentric phase.

And also, because this can be tough work for the quads, sometimes it’s nice to throw in a little lunge twist just for fun and as something else to pay attention to for a bit
