„Ich atme. Ich lebe. Es ist ein Wunder.“ Sarah (@pinguinkuh) hat ein neues Leben geschenkt bekommen – durch eine Organspende. Die 23-Jährige brauchte dringend eine neue Lunge. Viele Monate stand sie auf der Warteliste für eine Transplantation. Die letzten Wochen waren ein Wettlauf gegen die Zeit – ihr ging im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes die Luft aus. Trotz ständiger Beatmung und vielen Wochen Krankenhausaufenthalt. Seit ihrer Geburt leidet Sarah an der nicht heilbaren Stoffwechselerkrankung Mukoviszidose. Zähflüssiger Schleim sammelte sich in ihrer Lunge und ließ sie nicht atmen. „Es ist ein bisschen wie ertrinken, mein Leben steht momentan auf Pause“, beschrieb sie ihren Zustand vor der OP. Sarah hat diese Erkrankung geerbt. Auch ihre Schwester litt an Mukoviszidose. Sie starb vor rund zehn Jahren, im Alter von 15. Dieses Schicksal bleibt Sarah durch die neue Lunge erspart.
