Ginger Uppercut I started to enjoy using ginger ale in my cocktails a lot lately. Till now, I have shared two recipes, one with bourbon and another with pisco. Here is another recipe with bourbon. 50 ml bourbon (@makersmark) 20 ml lime juice 15 ml simple syrup 7-8 raspberries Ginger Ale Muddle 5-6 raspberries with simple syrup in the shaker. Add bourbon and lime juice, fill the shaker with ice and shake. Double strain into a highball glass and top with ginger ale. Garnish with a dehydrated lime wheel and raspberries. Cheers! Fun news! (Of which I am really excited.) I’ve been wanting to use my name as my business brand for awhile now, mostly due to its straightforward nature. I like knowing my customers only have to remember one name now. “Oh ya, Jen Beachy makes those!” As opposed to “That’s Function Pottery! Who’s behind that again?” Seeing as how my business is only me, this idea fits. I worked with the illustrious @gravesco (thank you!!!) over the winter to make new business cards, graphics, the whole shebang, and to give it heart, we incorporated the little leaf stamp I’ve been using for awhile now on my Comfort Mugs. This little piece of earthenware means a great deal to me as I made it years ago while staying and working with a village pottery community in Nicaragua, and that experience was transformative. So, using it as part of my maker’s mark feels... right. Im playing catch-up on #marchmeetthemaker and day 3 was “flaylay” I love doing little jigsaws with my beach finds so I thought some of my sea pottery shards with makers marks would be good for Meet the Maker! Its always quite hard to date a piece at first, but if you have an iconic pattern or design, or a clue as to who made it and when you can start to put the provenance puzzle together. For example the biggest piece came from a marmalade jar. James Keiller and Sons made preserves for the Victorians dating this piece to around late 1800s. The text “grand” goes onto say... Grand Medal of Merit Vienna 1873, Im assuming this is a hallowed marmalade related accolade. Two of the pieces look like they say Grimwades who were a pottery company based in Stoke On Trent England from 1906-1964. Various marks would change during the history of the company as it updated its brand so numerous makers mark could exist for a single company if they operated over a significant amount of time. Obviously some shards offer up more information than others, and some have a mystery history. Theres one that says simply “ALF” no idea what that was the start of, possibly something made in Alfriston?! I usually google the words I think I know or trawl through the many helpful guides there are out there to identify different factories and ceramic makers. Sometimes I identify something, sometimes I don’t, but its always nice to hold a piece in your hand and know where it started ✨#beachbling

A maioria das destilarias faz uso milho, trigo, centeio e cevada na produção dos seus whiskeys, mas a destilaria Maker’s Mark não. Acredite, isso faz toda a diferença. Depois do milho, o grão normalmente mais utilizado é o centeio, sendo este o responsável pelos típicos sabores picantes. A MM não utiliza um único grão de centeio, fazendo uso apenas de milho, cevada e um tipo especial de trigo, o vermelho.
