Meet Sunny Van Zandt from West Frankfort. Sunny started her generals for the nursing program in the fall of 2015 and will graduate with her Associate of Nursing on May 15th! “I’ve loved my experience at John A. Logan,” Sunny told us. “I was able to stay close with some of my good friends and make many new friendships. Through John A. Logan’s nursing program, I have been able to dive into the community through participating in health fairs, chairing the princess event at the Eggtravaganza, recruitment for stem cell donation, and so much more. I love this community at Logan, and want to do all that I can to help it thrive. “I am so excited to graduate and work as a registered nurse so I can bring a positive impact to others. I have been on the other side when it comes to being at the hospital when my grandpa was there, which allows me to take an empathetic approach. “This nursing program has taught me many lessons and values that I will take with me forever. The instructors in this program genuinely care about their students’ well-being and seeing them succeed. They take their time and invest it into their students to help them in areas they are struggling. I have spent countless hours talking to my instructors in their offices because I know they listen. This program is hard, but it prepares you better than any other to pass that NCLEX and work as a safe and competent nurse, which is the ultimate goal. This program promotes several opportunities to be involved in our community and benefit it as much as possible. “John A. Logan facilitates learning at an affordable and competitive level, especially for the nursing program. I have given advice to many students who have come to me asking about this school and our program. If you are interested in nursing, this is the place to be. I have loved every teacher I have ever had here. Many people think the epitome of success is moving away from their hometown - I think it is also important for some to take the opportunity and grow where we are planted, serving the community we are from. I am so passionate about this school and program!”
Sunny, we are so proud of you and all of your hard work here at JALC! CONGRATS!
