Officer Brent Knight was hired as a Corrections Officer in April 2008. The jail is far different from building race cars in his garage, but he loves working in the Mesquite Detention Center. Officer Knight’s experience is a key part of making sure the jail runs smoothly and we are happy we have him. Thank you for your service! #correctionsofficer #correctionsappreciationweek #mesquitenvpolice #mesquitenv
May 5-11, 2019 is National Correctional Officer Appreciation Week. When Ronald Reagan signed the declaration in 1984 to celebrate these heroes, he said: “no group of Americans has a more difficult and less publicly visible than the brave men and women who work in our correctional facilities”. Thanks to the great group of officers that work in the Mesquite Detention Center and the work they do! We will highlight these officers during this week since they aren’t out in the public eye very often but deserve to be recognized for their important work. #correctionalofficer #mesquitenvpolice #correctionsofficerappreciationweek
It's #rednoseday! The men and women of the Mesquite Police Department, Municipal and Justice Courts, Victim's Advocate and Court Marshal were all excited to participate.
We invite you to go to Walgreen's, buy a red nose to help fight childhood poverty, and post your own red nose photos in the comments. #mesquitenv #mesquitenvpolice #rednoseday2019 #
Today a few of our Officers and Explorers helped out with the Bike Rodeo at Virgin Valley Elementary School. This wonderful program teaches kids how to be safe while riding their bikes or scooters. We hope the things the students learned today keep them out of harm’s way all summer long. We love seeing the Explorers serve their community by helping the police department with events like this.
The Mesquite NV Athletics and Leisure Services Dept. secured about $8,000 in funding from an RTC grant to buy a bike helmet for every student in this program!! Huge thanks to them for their help and involvement. #bikerodeo #mesquitenv #mesquitenvpolice
It’s still National Correctional Officers Week and we will share more Officer highlights with you throughout the weekend!
Officer Brian Hunter has been with the Mesquite Police Department as a Corrections Officer since 2009. Officer Hunter was recently certified to be one of the field training officers for the Detention Center and is currently attending training to become one of the department’s firearms instructors.
Officer Hunter has been a great Corrections Officer and will continue to excel with his new training responsibilities. We look forward to the years ahead with him. Thanks for your service!

Today several of our officers participated in Rack-it Smack-it at Virgin Valley Elementary. Every year officers and school staff team up against the outgoing 5th grade classes as a final activity before they go on to middle school. There were several games going at once so here are just a few pics from one of the games. There were definitely a few future pro athletes playing today- some of the kids are pretty awesome too #vves2019 #rackitsmackit #mesquitenvpolice
