Welcome to Milano!!! Swipe for more! ✨ It wasn’t originally a part of our plan to visit Milan but since our flight back to New Delhi was from Milan we stopped over for 1 night - and how glad we were. Milan is a financial hub as well as a global capital of fashion and design. At first glance, it looks much like any other modern city, but it has a historical side as well. ✨ We arrived in Milan late afternoon from Croatia and had the rest of the day to experience a bit of the city. Our airbnb was delightful. We were on the second floor and this time around for the first time in our euro trip we had a lift... yes!!!!! The location of the apartment was top notch as our apartment was overlooking the famous Landmark Porta Garibaldi in Piazza Aprile. Check out our stories for the amazing view! ✨ Our apartment, Corso Como: Charme and Comfort was booked via @bookingcom and was huge with three bedrooms and an amazing balcony overlooking the Piazza. It cost us 236€ for one night for the 6 of us. ✨ Travel tip: You can buy an urban unlimited travel card for 4.5€ from any of the kiosks around Milan for unlimited rides on Buses, trams and the metro for 24 hours. Duomo di Milano ✨ We checked in at our beautiful apartment courtesy @bookingcom and immediately headed towards the Duomo, the Milan Cathedral- it was a 20 minute walk but the beautiful weather and city life made the walk super fun and refreshing. ✨ The Duomo - dedicated to the Nativity of St Mary, it is the seat of the Archbishop of Milan. We’ve seen a lot of amazing churches on this trip, but the Duomo was definitely another breathtaking moment! The sheer immensity of the cavernous interior was amazing. ✨ Travel tip: To enjoy a panoramic view of the Dumo and the area around Check in to the 7th floor of Rinascente right opposite the Duomo for a magnificent view over the spires of the Duomo ✨ Two pictures reflect the grandeur of the Duomo Di Milano.. one during the day time and second during evening with lights all around. Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II ✨ After leaving the Duomo, we walked through the gorgeous and glitzy Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a very high end shopping mall. After the Duomo, this is the next most visited part of Milan with its high brand stores and that oomph factor. With it’s glass ceiling, the whole place has a very upmarket feel. The entire floor of the gallery is mosaic and near the centre is the image of a bull. ✨ Tradition has it that good luck will come to anyone who places their heel on the bull’s testicles and spins in a circle three times. Time has come to bid adieu to Milan and to our Italian sojourn. It would be only fair to post a picture that’s the heart and soul of Milan... the Tram lines. Milan is one of those few cities with these vintage tram lines that criss cross through the city and provide its residents and tourist with a fast and effective commute. ✨ We covered quite a few places around Italy from the Amalfi coast to Venice in the north. For us, to our surprise, Sorrento was the best part of our Italian trip. We expected a place to make a base for Amalfi but instead got a city which we loved the most. ✨ Now its time to carry on to the next part of our European Vacation. Milan was actually our last stop for our flight back home and we visited this other beautiful beautiful country bordering Italy from Venice by road. Navigli, Milan (swipe swipe swipe) ✨ So the next morning given that we still had time before catching our train we made our way to the Navigli area. This was much like the canals of Venice. You’ll also find find cute shops, a lively art scene and many options for eating and drinking on either side of the can with quite a few colorful houses. Though we’ve heard it’s much more lively during the evening hours. ✨ And there is something for history buffs too - these canals were built between 1177 and 1257. ✨ Fun fact - They were used for transporting all kinds of goods, but most importantly the marble that was used to build the Duomo!! ✨ Even Leonardo loved Navigli. He left notes and drawings about his ideas for the canals which were later used by other engineers who worked on the canal system. ✨ Travel info: Navigli is pretty easy to reach via the tram or the metro. As we had stated earlier it’s better to buy the daily urban pass that lets you take unlimited rides on the tram, the metro and bus for only €4.50 for 24 hours.
