St Mary's almshouses, known today as St Mary's Homes, in the picturesque Church Town area of Godstone, in Surrey, south of London.. . St Mary's Homes were founded in 1872 and were built in a romantic half timbered free Tudor style to a design of Sir George Gilbert Scott who, at that time, lived nearby and was also carrying out extensive works to the adjoining church of St Nicholas.  The buildings are listed Grade II* and consist of six one person dwellings and two slightly larger ones each suitable for a couple. There is also a chapel and the original well and accompanying shingled roof structure. The Homes were founded through the sole generosity of Mrs Augusta Nona Hunt a wealthy widow who lived in the parish with her daughter Mabel Fanny. There's an adorable mock-Tudor ball shaped house sitting in Regent's Park at the moment. It's incredibly aptly titled Tudor Ball and is by @larserikfisk In fact @friezeartfair have dropped rather a few works around the parks south east corner, that will stay there till early October.

We were in the street, Windermere Avenue, N3, last weekend for East Finchley Open Artists (@eastfinchleyopen ) because that street, which is actually in Finchley Central, has three well signposted open artists' houses within easy walking distance of each other. One, No.9, is that of talented Colombian ceramicist @claudialuquero .
