My experience with the HobbyWing ESC. Built up the quad, clean soldering no shorts. Setting things up in BF on a 4s, everything running fine. Disconnected and checking things and on the third arm I saw a spark and my motor went in smoke. Replaced with a junk motor to confirm it was the esc. I understand things happen, but it’s just disappointing to have a $70 esc put you out $95 and a whole lotta time, especially when it seems to have a reputation for blowing up. I’m not saying it’s a bad esc and that it isn’t used by some of the fastest pilots on the planet, but my experience combined with the batt tabs that stick out 2 miles are making me steer clear from this one from now on.
