How did a hot & sticky day at my storage unit land me this modeling job? 1st photo is one of the released images from a fun campaign I did for Shoe Carnival; all the images are now starting to circulate & are in their stores. The 2nd is an in-studio behind the scenes video where they needed to capture foot movement. ⁣⁣ Have time for a quick story on how I booked this job and the work day? Can you level with me? Here goes.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I was at my storage unit one day during a move. Hot & sweaty. My agent sent an email requesting that I tape a video showcasing me walking & doing a few poses for the camera - & oh, he needed it within a few hours.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I quickly finished at the storage unit, ran to the closest family members house & changed. I set up my tripod which was thankfully in my trunk from moving & completed the task. Within a week, I was confirmed for the job as a direct result of showing the client I knew how to effortlessly pose + the fact I had a great modeling portfolio for them to see.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ For 3 days, I worked with Shoe Carnival along 3 other amazing models. It so happened that we were having a cold front so there were moments when we were absolutely freezing - but as a model you do your job. We entertained each other, laughed, enjoyed our lunch breaks and kept the spirit light. But when it was time to shoot there was no complaining despite the unfavorable conditions.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Many people look at models & think our job is always easy. Many want to be models but fail to realize that there is so much that can & should be done BEFORE booking a job to ensure that you kick butt on set. There are steps to ensure that you even get the job in the 1st place.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ While modeling is amazing & I am super thankful for my bookings - know that we work hard and we are more than just pretty faces.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ As with any career, you deserve to find the one that makes you the happiest. So even when I am freaking out about my next project or feeling insecure, I push past the doubts and DO THE WORK to make my goals happen. None trying to uproot the other. A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I'm NOT perfect, but one thing I love about myself, one thing that I know 100% for a fact is a strong point of mine, is my ability to extend kindness and positivity onto the next person. Whether close friends or strangers, I find that without even thinking, I naturally go out of my way to bless someone else, I walk up to a perfectly fabulous stranger and tell her how beautiful she is. Kindness usually comes easy for me...and other times I work at it.⁣ ⁣ Sometimes life circumstances..maybe even IG... can cause you to lose track of reality and who you truly are with all the desires to get versus to give..with all the desires to have more likes, more followers and the sponsorships...all of which can be pros & cons for building a brand. ⁣It can cause u to fail at who you know you want to be. ⁣⁣ ⁣ Sure, I likes per photo, but I'd rather create content that aligns with my spirit and my brand even if it means I won't be as "IG Popular".⁣ Even it is means less reads since people prefer gossip.⁣ ⁣⁣ Everyone has their own niche and what makes them unique...which is great...but for me, positivity and kindness wins anytime...⁣ whether that is on social media or on the streets when I extend a smile to a random stranger. We live in this world to give back and to love. Not to have sour-puss attitudes or constant competition towards others. ⁣⁣ ⁣ As a model, being in this industry can come with much competition, jealousy and pride...but humbling yourself and thinking positive are the keys to any life. ⁣ ⁣ What thing are you 100% in love with YOURSELF about...
